First of, let me say that i own a PS2 and a Xbox, and i've played the Gamecube multiple times with many games, so i know the pros and cons of this console.
A, Games: The Xbox has some great games, many that are exclusive. Since the Xbox has the most power, many of the last games of this generation became Xbox exclusives. Even its older games are great. Jedi Knights of the Old Republic(RPG), Fable(RPG) Halo 1 and 2(FPS),Elder Scrolls III Morrowind(RPG) , Chronicles of Riddick (FPS), the list goes on and on. Also, most ports to the Xbox are simply better. GTA San Andreas gives new areas, Star Wars starfighter gives a new mode. Also, all ports have better graphics, sound memory, loading times, etc.
For instance, Game Informer states in a review of Red Dead Revolver: " The Xbox version puts the buller right between the eyes of the PS2. It runs at 60Hz(twice the framerate of the PS2), 480p wide screen, and twice the sound memory( the PS2 version can have up to 3 ricochet sounds, the xbox has six to none)"
B, Online capability. The Xbox has done miracles with its XBox Live service, something the PS2 tried to do and failed. Xbox Live gives games great multi player capability. No friends over? You want to play a a big Halo 2 map(like waterworks) No problem! Xbox Live gives you tons of players from all over the world to play with. I've found tons of games being played at 2 in the morning! Also, many Xbox games have free, or very cheap( 2.99$) downloads. These include stuff like new maps and gameplay fixes, new quests, you name it. This is a great feature.
C, Console itself: I wont go over the exact tech specs, you can see them at the top of the page. FOr those who dont know, Xbox is the most powerfull game system of this generation.
Anyways, my favorite part of the Xbox is the 4 controller slots. I remember being anoyed when i had 2 buds over, and having to switch turns with the controller. Yes, you could buy the multitape, but few games support this. Most(like all non RPG games) give full 4 player support. Its great fun having doubles matches on Top Spin, or having 4 player free for alls on Halo 2.
The controller is actualy quite sound(the controller S) and is my favorite of the 3 consoles controllers. The Xbox has great placement of its analog buttons, and the triggers are full ones, not those sissy half ones like the ones on the PS2. It also is a bit larger than the PS2 and Gamecube controllers, so its fine for kids(like my 8 year old brother), adults,(like my 44 year old uncle) and everyhting inbetween.
It ashould bear mentioning that the hardive on the XBox is also a great, it frees you up from those costly memory cards.
All in all, it is THE console to get.

When I first purchased an XBox, I was attracted by its hard drive memory and the ability to download the contents of any music compact disc.
Downloaded music is known as a "custom soundtrack", and games that include the "Custom Soundtracks" indicator at the bottom use your music to better enhance the gameplay experience.
XBox Live itself may be the best online medium, with voice on most of its Live games, and a wonderfully competitive yet adaptive environment that, varying depending upon the game, helps you to find players at your skill level.
But, XBox 360's Live has better features, including an online "gamercard" for you to show off.
After owning the system for years, I began to get a series of "this disc isn't compatible with XBox" or "this disc may be damaged or dirty" pop-ups, and in the rare case that the game may actually work it will probably begin to suffer dramatic framerate reduction, freeze-ups (both temporary and more often permanent) sudden pop-ups like the latter mentioned above but during gameplay, FMV playback at unusually high speeds, environment-loading problems (one time when playing The Godfather I ran into a "wall"-which was really just thin air that leads to another area on the game. After a minute, the environment ahead of me began to finally load)
Unusually, in spite of the glitches and failed boot-up attempts experienced with other games, XBox Live Arcade, and online game store that allows you to play a selection of games (including classics like Ms. Pac-Man, Gauntlet, Smash TV, Dig Dug, Galaga, and Pole Position) and upload your score online.
Some XBox Live Arcade games do include multiplayer, others like the readily-available Ms. Pac-Man simply upload your high score online.
My XBox has experienced difficulty playing various games for the past two or three years, and my sister's XBox, when playing the game Obscure, suddenly lost all of its hard drive memory.
Imagine reaching a far point on a videogame, only to attempt saving and seeing an error message, with all earlier saves literally eradicated.
Or, hosting a game online, only for the game to present an error message ending the gameplay for all of the players in your game.
There used to be a rumor that the casing of the XBox was durable enough to withstand a bullet-well, if only the system's innards were as reliable, it'd be a decent system.
When my GameCube gave me disc-read errors, I simply swabbed the lens with the tip of a Q-tip and the system worked fine afterwards.
Accessing the XBox's lens requires unscrewing a series of different parts, some very fragile, and isn't recommended, especially when you're worried that the high scores you have set online, and your gamertag (screen name) thus, could be lost when attempting to repair your XBox.
And, of course, you'd be voided any warranty provided by Microsoft.
Trying to get the XBox to work has been a nightmare, so much so that I literally dreaded turning the system off because I knew that it might not play that same game again, or if it does it might skip, or suffer other glitches.
If you're in the market for systems, I recommend sticking with Nintendo's line; GameCube, GBA, etc.
Blessed Be

I found myself attracted to the Xbox because of an Exclusive Xbox Game (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) So that's why I spent 150 dollars on it. And Yeah It was worth the wait and the money.
When I first got the Xbox I was so grateful and happy. I didn't believe I got one (And apparently the Xbox is still expensive in this country, no one has it). I went running into my room and I connected the Xbox and all... Ok. I have to say that the Xbox?s main menu is detailed and with a lot of options (Including Xbox Live) setting the day, month year and parental setting. I felt like a champion when I got it!
As I mentioned above I bought the Xbox because of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But the first game I played on it was Spiderman and when I put the game on the Xbox it loaded fast, and I was playing and I had fun.
The Controller I got is small and comfortable for everything. I spent like 3 hours playing Spiderman and I wasn't tired because my hands wouldn't hurt me after the extended use of it.
I have four complaints about this system and that's why I gave it a 4 star rating:
1. If you unplug the cable from the wall. You need to set the setting again and again and its annoying since the electricity in my country is unstable and I didn't want my Xbox to explode (lol).
2. The Xbox game list is not a big deal meaning that you wont find titles like Final Fantasy or Resident Evil here... The RPG games are no big deal (Don't even mention Morrowind or KOTOR, they just sucks). All you are going to find in this system is a few good action games such as Ninja Gaiden or some short RPG (Fable!), nothing special, nothing outstanding...
3. Too many sports game. Im not a fan of those games. They are boring... make more RPGs and action games!
4. The Xbox can play DVD but you need a special Kit (doesn't come with the package) and that's why PS2 stands in the first place. Oh and its very big to carry... some people says that it's a PC cut in half lol.
These are my main complaints about this system, but everything is so enjoyable about it. The Microsoft Logo, the Menu, the fact that you can save your music and MP3 into the hard drive, replays and absolutely NO USELESS MEMORY CARDS.

During the winter of 2000 Sony released the Playstation 2. Having won the console sales wars the previous generation, everyone expected Sony to win again easily. Microsoft had other plans. The next year the Microsoft Xbox was released, as well as the Nintendo Gamecube. Both sold well, but the PS2 still sold many more systems than the Xbox or Gamecube. One of the bright spots of the Xbox's launch was a little game called Halo: Combat Evolved. It was called the best First-Person-Shooter ever. Others said it was a little to repetitive, but everyone who played it still said it was an enjoyable experiance. It took a while for more great games to come out for the Xbox. Microsoft in the meantime launched Xbox Live. An online gaming plan that was above all other online gaming options. People became addicted to it, having parties that lasted all night. When Halo 2 was announced people went crazy. Everyone wanted to get their hands on it. When it was finally released during the winter of 2004. It sold like crazy, becoming one of the highest selling video games ever. One of the extra features added to Halo 2 was Xbox Live play. It's now one of the most played online games. One of the things the Xbox accomplished was combining PC and console games. Before the Xbox the only notable console FPSs were GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark, both for the Nintendo 64. Now the FPS genre is probably the most played genre of video games. The Xbox is home to some gamer's favorite franchises. Here is a list of Xbox games everyone should own.
Halo: Combat Evolved
Halo 2
Halo 2: Multiplayer Map Pack
Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Ninja Gaiden
Ninja Gaiden: BLACK
Fable
Fable: The Lost Chapters
Jade Empire
Mech Assault
Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf
BLACK
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Star Wars: Battlefront
Star Wars: Battlefront II
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
Call of Duty: Finest Hour
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Conflict: Global Terror
Dead or Alive 3
Soul Calibur 2
I realize it's a long list but the Xbox is full of great games. Everyone of those is worth owning.
