American Graffiti/More American Graffiti (Drive-in Double Feature)
I watched this film way back in the 70s when it was first made, and it left such an impression, it was almost a parallel of myself and my friends (albeit set in the 60s, and we were about in the 70s), but there was John Milner, Norman with his custom/drag cars, there was the geek Toad, that was Steve. The rest of the guys Mal, Frankie, Bob, Kenny, Stasho. The girls Debs, Donna, Babs, to name but a few. We all used to meet at a cafe (no diners in the United Kingdom) and then we used to go cruise down on the seafront, often having all night beach parties and staying out till the small hours. Yes it certainly was a parallel to our lives and I can watch it over and over and see us all there.
More American Graffiti, was a good insight into where and what happened to the gang when they all grew up and went to do their own things. Again this paralleled our lives, with a few exceptions (nobody has died yet).
Norman raced funny cars in the 80s and is now building custom trikes in Missouri. Steve went back to the States and has never been heard of since. The rest of us well we all got various jobs from Truck drivers to landscape gardners.
Two extremely good films and I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone, especially the 30-50 year olds. I think they will find something of themselves there. Riveting stuff, and the Wolfman, what a great Jock, sadly no longer with us except in spirit.

I enjoyed viewing the original "American Graffiti" and the extra package of actor interviews. Mostly, I liked George Lucas's views of his work. Three additional scenes were rescued from the editing room floor and inseted into the film on DVD.
The sequel was a little disappointing. It would never stand on it's own, but has value as a continuing revelation of the characters lives. Those who bonded with the original characters enjoy seeing what happened later in life.
Good package!

I enjoyed the widescreen versions of both movies, but, the films apparently had not been digitally remastered. Viewing them on a 65-inch projection tv was a little disappointing. The films' images were a little soft, and the Dolby Digital sound was not as good as current videos. Although, when viewed on a 42" plasma, the picture quality was fine.
Nevertheless, the overall experience was very nice, with "American Graffitii" in widescreen, and the continuation of the characters' lives in "More American Graffitti," which provides satisfying and logical conclusions to the lives of the "American Graffitti" characters.
This combined DVD is a good value. I recommend it to fans of the films, and anyone who hasn't seen the films. especially if viewed on smaller (say, 42-inch or smaller tvs.

I identify with this movie because I grew up at the same time and my two priorities were girls and cars or vice versa (come to think about it, that's still my two priorities!) I have owned a VHS version of Americian Graffitti for many years but I wanted a DVD version hoping that it will last many more years.
The original movie is hard to sequel so More American Graffitti didn't do a lot for me.
