A very comprehensive compilation of the tunes used in the show. Great pop songs by Boyce & Hart, and Neil Diamond are here. Also the elusive tune that played during the end credits [For Pete's Sake] is re-discovered. Mike Nesmiths skills as composer/musician are again brought to light. Even if you didn't care for the monkees ,the music stands the test of time quite well. OKD

When I was in my teens it would have been a death wish in most conversations to admit I liked the Monkeys. Thankfully those days are long gone and now I can speak freely about things I really did enjoy. I was my younger sisters who "bought" the Monkey's albums and I would spirit them off to my room to play them and sing along. This collection offers the big chart records and lesser titles like Look Out, Here Comes Tomorrow that reached a pinnacle of what made for good Pop music. It also demonstrates that by luck of the draw, the network put together four talented musicians who could change speeds and style and write their own stuff. Perhaps this isn't The Beatles, The Stones, The Eagles, etc, but thanks to top notch production values and studio work it is some of the best of popular music during the mid to late 60s. And it also features the studio style of recording without multiple effects and overdubs that slowly robbed the character of music in later years. Enjoy!

Subject says it all.
I am not an extremely picky audiophile; I can listen to 128k mp3's all day and they sound fine to me. But this is like nails on a chalkboard. Even the Monkees great music can't overcome the limitations of the awful engineering and "remastering" on this album.
From the get-go, the Monkees theme is totally flat, no bottom at all. It sounds like you are listening to AM radio. The rest of the tracks are all over the place, from bad to worse. There isn't a single track on this album that I can even stand to listen to.
I can't believe that this was worked on by anyone who knows anything about music engineering or mastering. It obviously wasn't. The engineer(s) should be fired for doing this kind of work.
I love the Monkees, but this set is a real disgrace to their music. I'm going to be looking for a different 'Best of' collection that sounds halfway decent.

I love the Monkees; this CD is a recopilation of most of their hits. Good buy.
