The Ordering of the product was easy, and fast. The shipping of the product was very quick and timely. The movie arrived in good condition. The actual feature on a scale of 1 to 10 was a 9. It was a story I had seen many times on TV. I liked it so I purchased it. It is a great movie for the whole family or one individual. It is an all around good movie.
I give it 4.5 stars

An excellent family movie. It doesn't get any better than this as far as family movies go. No foul language and NO nudity. It is a drama that is fun to watch as a family stuggles to deal with the father's sudden thrust into the limelight of an aged baseball player.
One man's dream of being in the major leagues comes true....

Oh my God, if this movie was any slower, it'd take a month to watch. They went a little nutso with the musical score, too.
But what really irks me is why they used a Scot, Brian Denis, to play Morris' father. You might remember Denis as the milky-eyed uncle of William Wallace in Braveheart ("You've got the look of your mother." "learn to use this, it'll teach you to use this.")and as the alcoholic father of Daphne Moon in "Frasier." They couldn't find, out of 158 million American males, an American to play an Amercian in a baseball film, set, guess where, in American? I guess Chow Young Phat was too busy to accept the role. Why not have Charo play his American mom? Shame on Diznee. Muy malo pelicula.

Isn't it nice that Amazon wants a review of a product that was never received? When it was three days past the due date, I asked them to look into the shipment. They told me to wait. Well, I guess I'll have to buy movies from another source. Then I'll be able to review the movie I ordered a month ago - but is still with the USPS.

I've loved this film since seeing it on the big screen with my family. Though I know that Disney tends to do what some might call sappy family friendly films when it comes to their sports titles, I find them enjoyable and really like knowing that I can take my family and not worry about foul language and objectionable content on the screen.
The Rookie delivers in much the same way that another of my favorite Disney sports titles does, that being Miracle (which I'm impatiently waiting to see come out on Blu-ray disc). It (The Rookie) tells the story of a potential sports hero getting his chance to be a hero when the odds are stacked against him.
How could a family man that had his chance at playing organized baseball but unfortunately fell victim to injury wind up becoming one of the oldest rookies in Major League Baseball? Watch the film and follow the journey of Jim Morris, the real life pitcher whose life was the basis of the movie.
The DVD comes loaded with several nice extras which were carried to the Blu-ray disc as well. Those extras help flesh out some details in the story and also show more of the real life Jim Morris who is portrayed well here by Dennis Quaid.
I highly recommend this film for family viewing. The G rating may scare off some hoping for more cursing or some nudity or violence, but this movie shows that a G rated movie can be very enjoyable and entertaining, as well as inspirational.
