This was on my daughters Santa list and her Grandpa had one at his house. She is ten and loves making things . She has a few of the projects memorized and can do them quickly. She needs help in doing some of the harder ones but really enjoys it . very easy to follow and made to last . Great for 8 and up or younger if they can keep up with the parts . The smaller project one is just enough stuff for my child to do.

My 9-year-old son received this for Christmas and has spent many hours playing with it. None of the snap pieces have broken yet. The kit came with two large booklets of projects, which have been fun and educational for us. The projects are well laid-out plus they describe some of the science behind them. My 7-year-old has also been putting projects together. It's nice to have a toy that lives up to the hype!

My 8-year-old and I both really enjoy this product! Durability is something we hardly see anymore, but the Snap Circuit set is very durable and can actually be used as intended. All the parts are large and easy to handle for his tiny fingers. The instructions booklets are in full color and the components are clearly labeled. I am looking forward to buying some of the upgrade kits so we can do other things. Thank you for this fun and educational product!

The Snap Circuits SC-300 kit is an educational toy, designed to inspire discovery through basic electronic circuits.
My OPINION:
Despite being an educational toy, which for some would mean 'not fun', this kit is something that any curious kid (boy or girl) age 7 -70 could enjoy. Younger kids may need some adult assistance, but kids 10 and up should have no problems reading the manuals and enjoying hours of 'ah-ha' and 'whoa...did you see that'!
Also a good starting point for a science fair experiment.
Things to mention about the kit...
INSTRUCTION MANUALS:
Principles regarding the flow of energy and how to use it are discussed in the two enclosed instruction manuals. The manuals are valuable tools as they guide you about the basics: the parts of the kit and what they do, 'Do's & Don'ts' of building circuits, troubleshooting, how to contact the company for additional parts and listings of the 305 projects explained in the manual(s). Beginning with Project #1: Electric Light & Switch and ending in the second manual (yes, there are TWO manuals...) with project #305: Delayed Bedside Fan, these books are as much a part of this kit as the circuits, microphone, power amp, capacitors, LED, antenna coil, snap wires, resistors and transistors.
PARTS: There are 29 pieces to this set. You can order additional parts or replacement parts directly from Snap Circuits. The number after each kit refers to the number of projects each kit makes, not to the number of parts in the kit. *4AA batteries are needed, and not included in kit.
A great gift idea, this kit was well received by my 10 year old daughter and her 8 year old male cousin. If your kids enjoy discovering how things work and/or building things, they should love this kit!

So awesome! I gave this to my 10 yr old son for Christmas and his 9 yr old brother was the first to start playing with it. They've since made all kinds of cool things. I think this is one of the best gifts I've ever given. It's fun AND they learn some important concepts. It comes with easy to understand instruction books for creating different projects. Additionally, each project explains a little about what electronic circuit concepts you are actually learning/performing. So cool! Beating out our Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii and PCs for a while, the boys played with this for hours at a time. That's a hit!
