this game is really cool. I got it for my ninth birthday, i,m 12 now, and i still like it! I play it every day after school. at the beginning of the game you pick up this thing called a FLUDD. it gives you a big long explanation of how to use it, but after it's done, you get to go and clean up lots of gross goop! there are 6 different worlds you can go to. the portals to them open as you go along through the game. and that's another thing, the games' is really fun because it's not one of those games where you play it for a couple days and then "WHAM" you've completed the game. it's a nice long game. I highly recommend this game. don't rent this game first, buy it immediately!!!!!!!!!!

This game was setup in a very similar fashion to Mario 64, but the good old mario feeling wasnt there for me...
Isle Delfino didnt do it for me. The thing about mario 64 that i loved so much was the diversity of the levels. You start off in a familiar mario setting, but the next worlds are a snow mountain, a lake world, a ghost house, lava world, sand world, clock world, cloud world, etc. But in Mario Sunshine, the levels are basically all the same beach setting. It all seemed the same and it got so old! And as much fun as it was in Mario 64 to find the 8 red coins, it was just tedious and unoriginal in Sunshine, especially with the blue coins added. I dont want to collect coins so much!
The biggest let down in this game for me, and im sure there are others that may have felt the same, but where the heck was the long jump!!!! I couldnt believe it was missing in this game! I HATED that stupid nozzle attachment! I know it was an integral part of the story, but the story was stupid and seemed like no real thought was put into it. And this game seemed wayyyy to kiddie to me. The nozzle's voice irritated me to death, and i hate how Peach is such a ditz now. Make her somewhat intelligent, or atleast not so Jessica Simpson like! And i liked how mario looked and all in Mario 64, but they need to update him a bit! They keep making him look like little Fred Savage from the Wonder Years with a fake mustache on! If you look at mario in the original NES game, he looks a bit older looking, and not so cartoonish. I guess they could make him cartoonish, but he really does look like a little chubby kid with a fake mustache.
I really tried to like this game. I forced myself to keep playing through sometimes. I got to about 20 stars, but i just couldnt keep playing through these levels that all seemed the same. The boss missions were really disappointing! Too easy, just seemed like i was playing a children's game. I am 23 years old and i felt kinda embarrased playing this. They needed to make it a little bit harder for the older crowd, the die hard mario funs of the late 80s and early 90s.
I know alot of people love this game, but as a huge fan of mario 64, this game just didnt have the same feel to it. The play mechanics and graphics are all very good however. This is a very well made game, but im rating this game on my personal feeling of it. I am not saying its a bad game, just not for me

In Super Mario Sunshine, Mario is impersonated by a fiendish fellow wielding a paintbrush that spreads obnoxious goo all over the beautiful island. Mario is charged with cleaning it up, figuring out who the culprit is, and restoring the island's "shine sprites," which have disappeared. Of course, there is also some Princess-saving involved.
The object of this game is collect "shines" by completing various tasks, or finding where they're hidden. There are lots and lots of secrets to discover and gadgets to use, which goes a long way toward keeping one entertained.
The game is quite pretty, the environments are detailed and rich, and the maps are large and satisfying.
The amount of freedom allowed the player in this game is fantastic. Each section of the map has several "episodes" which you can revisit to find more treats and secrets. There are a few temporary limitations that keep you from jumping ahead of what you're capable of, but by in large, you've got the freedom to go wherever you choose.
This game comes highly recommended.

This is a really good game, and is lots of fun to play. It's good for all ages, simple enough for kids, yet a challenge for older players, too.
