Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A classic from my childhood.
I dont know why there are other bad reviews but this was a classic from my childhood my mom and me use to watch this movie 4 times a week. It was a great unexpected family tradition. This an aswesome movie you must watch if you dont like space then DONT WATCH!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Calling Dr. Smith...
I loved the TV series LOST IN SPACE when I was a kid. Then, I got a chance to watch it as an adult and... well, let me just say that many fond memories were destroyed! While I still enjoy the entire first season (in glorious b+w), I find the psychedelically colored "camp" episodes of seasons two and (especially) three, to be nearly unwatchable. The movie version is a modern retelling of the story (mostly from season one) of the Robinson family, complete w/ spiffy new outfits and an upgraded B9 robot. William Hurt and Mimi Rogers make a decent enough John and Maureen Robinson. Heather Graham is a stolid, yet beautiful Judy, and Matt LeBlanc is a cynical, sarcastic Don West. Will Robinson (Jack Johnson) is the genius / whiz-kid of the family, able to retro-fit just about any gadget. Penny (Lacey Chabert) is basically a throw-away role w/ little to do. Gary Oldman (Hannibal, The Fifth Element) gets the juicy part of the eeevil Dr. Zachary Smith. He's far more cunning and less of a sniveling whimp than his TV counterpart. He's also far more interesting than anyone else in the movie! LOST IN SPACE isn't terrible, it's just not a classic. Even so, it is certainly better than the the final two seasons of the show...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - movie
The movie's great came in just in time no scratches of any kind nothing more or less.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not shakespear but fun
If you go into this movie expecting sublime plots or whatever, then you're doomed to dissapointment, if you go in, just expecting a fun movie, then it can be a lot of fun. It is in no way, other than a few homages, tied to the original TV series, so don't go expecting it to be a continuation. It's not. It's a stand-alone story, and, as such, stands alone. It's typical summer scifi action movie fare, and for the day, the CGI was really good. Now it's dated, and suffers in comparison, but CGI always does that. Overall, a fun movie. Interestingly enough, this version had a lot about french subtitles and features, so I am guessing this is the french export version, no problems, just thought I would put that out there.
