Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Nostalgia...little else.
I had one of those really nostalgic moments of remembering how much I used to watch this movie when I was younger. Unlike most nostalgic impulse buys, this one was rather unfulfilling. It was nice to see it on DVD quality, given, but overall story and script leave less to be desired. But who REALLY is watching this to consider if it was snubbed from the academy awards 20 some odd years ago. For now, it does what it can do best which is remind us of a time when movie technology was only so advanced, but all of us 7 year old boys ate it up. If you are a HE-MAN affecianado this is a definite buy. Courtney Cox fans may want to watch to see her scream in the movie...just the way she does seems to pay homage in some part to Horror and Thriller movies of the last 40 years. If you want to see the small vestiges of GOOD acting, pay attention to Frank Langella's politically minded and diabolical portrayal of Skeletor. While other actors in the film have a difficult time acting themselves out of a hat, the likes of Langella and surprisingly, Dolph Lundgren, are worth the few dollars trip down memory lane. For all to TREK fans you get an early look at Robert Duncan McNeil pre-next gen and, most importantly, pre-voyager. You will notice that not much changed in his ability in the 7 years between this movie and Voyager's beginnings. Overall the movie is, as I have said, good for nostalgic purposes only, anything more, and I doubt viewers will be as forgiving when it comes to obvious flaws in production and shots. Appreciate it for the context in which is came out of, not much more.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not a great movie, but a good memory
For those persons over thirty, the cartoon of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was a classic, this movie wasn't like the cartoon, but it makes also a nice memory. One gets to see Courtney Cox before she was famous on Friends, and Robert Duncan McNeill before he was on Star Trek Voyager.

The Director's comments weren't really that good and the movie isn't close captioned (strange!) but all in all, a movie to pass the time and remember childhood.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I love this movie!!!
Look folks, this may not be anything like the cartoon, but it is a sweet movie nonetheless.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Different...but a good sci-fi movie
This movie is not 100% bad neither is it 100% as accurate as the cartoon.
As stated in some reviews, a lot of things are different. The setting first of all is on Planet Earth!! Castle Grayskull's inside I would say looks more like the royal palace, I mean why not do something more dark and mysterious, like the interior of a cave or something. This was the 80's, so obviously by that time a lot of special effects were not possible. He-man with a cape? A Yodaish fictional character named Gwildor? Bad guys that looked as if they were brought from a Star Wars movie? I like the way Skeletor and Evil-lyn looked. But Evil-lyn was no sorceress in this movie at all, just a pretty evil chick.
As a sci-fi movie it is interesting. It has laser stuff and some cool lights and things. But if you watch the cartoon, wow, how different.
Hopefully, soon another one will be made and I also hope it is much more accurate.
Who would think Tranformers was ever gonna come out with real people and the robots were actually gonna look very realistic in every way.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - shiny black armour
Wow this movie is.. Interesting.

I bought it just for completeness really, its nothing like the tv show. Pretty much the only good thing in the entire film is the dudes with the shiny black armour, I think they're skeletors minions or something and they're cool. Pity he-man kills like 500 of them at a time.
