I must be crazy because I've been waiting all week for the MP3 downloads. These songs are incredibly written and recorded well. I was a big fan at the age of 11 when I bought these two albums from the now defunct RCA Music Club. Now I am 45 and I still like to listen to the songs. The lyrics, chord structures, melodies, and background singing along with Mr. Cassidy's voice is just plain fantastic. I really miss this music and yes, its pop gummy music, but in this day and age of Rap music and with the low-moral and anti-authorities culture that goes with it, I'll pay my money any day to listen to clean and will written music. I can put these songs on during the afternoon and get things done around the house and replay them endlessly and they never tire. Good job Keith! lol.

This is a very hard to find CD and has songs that most other partridge family albums do not, such as "You are always on my mind" and "Umbrella Man".....

Maybe I wanted to relive my youth just a little when I bought this CD, but I'm sure glad I gave in to that nostalgic moment. The memories it has brought back to me of sitting in my room as a "tween" and listening for hours on end to the melodic songs on this Partridge Family album...ahhhh. The songs are well arranged and full-bodied and David Cassidy is singing. Well, there you go. My favorites being "Umbrella Man", "Morning Rider on the Road", and "She'd Rather Have the Rain", are all smartly written and sound so good after all these years. If you were ever a Partridge Family fan, I recommend this CD. So sit back, put on your best bell-bottoms, wallabees, and paisley shirt, and have a listen.

If you are a fan of these great early Partridge Family albums, then you owe it to yourself to buy the 1993 Razor & Tie versions instead. Why? Razor & Tie did not tamper with the sound quality, as a result, Razor & Tie discs sound just like the records you remember. I made the mistake of buying the re-masters thinking they would sound even greater; NOT!
I've heard both versions using top of the line monitor speakers, and these Buddha discs have too much bass added for their own good. They also sound flat, because too much noise reduction was used, thus taking away the sparkle which sounded so good on the Razor & Tie versions. You can still find these Partridge Family albums on Razor & Tie right here on Amazon.
The Partridge Family albums on Razor & Tie were the debut album, Up To Date, Sound Magazine, Shopping Bag and The Christmas album.

When I was a very little kid, I used to hold a cassette recorder with a crappy microphone up to the TV to tape the newest Partridge Family songs before they were officially released. Then, when the albums came out, I'd marvel at how the versions on the album could be different than the version on TV (the extra synthesizer on "I'll Leave Myself a Little Time", for example).
I knew I would like this CD from a purely nostalgic perspective, but what surprises me is how well these songs hold up in terms of their craftsmanship. This CD and Sound Magazine are two of the most solidly crafted discs of bubblegum pop from the 70's, and far superior to anything else made at the time (unless you count the Jackson 5 as part of this genre, which I don't).
From listening to Sound Magazine, it's obvious that David Cassidy's vocals are pitch-shifted on this disc, but this album is still a fun listen, regardless of the studio tricks used or how few of the "Partridges" actually performed on the disc.
