A Bing Crosby Christmas DVD

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Bing White Christmas
This item is falsely listed as Bing Crosby's White Christmas but he has little to do in it. But there are a host of other stars like Jane Powell who are great to see. The quality is not great vision-wise but, I guess, we can at least seeit on DVD

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Disappointed
Not at all what I hoped for. Bad transfer to DVD and the performances were painful. Heads were cut off in a lot of places. The theme wasn't Christmas as presented. Bing Crosby did lip-sinc "White Christmas", but even that was not very good.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Christmas in title only...
You'll be as disappointed as I if you're looking for Christmas music. This is a USO montage by many of the popular performers of the 1960's, but certainly not a DVD of Bing Crosby or of Christmas. Bing is one very brief segment. I'm surprised his Estate hasn't gotten all lawyered up and pulled this program off the shelves. It's certainly NOT -his- "White Christmas All Star Show" and IS very misleading.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not Worth the money
This DVD is not worth the money. There is only 1 Christmas song the entire 90 mins. But if you like to see the old timer actors this might be for you.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Delightful content; terrible picture
I dearly love old Christmas movies and television specials, which is why I was so very disappointed in the quality of this offering. Here was a chance to present the king of Christmas music and his warm and wonderful Christmas specials, but they blew it. This thing was obviously put together as a television special (probably for PBS) in the late 1970s or early 1980s with introductions by Katherine Crosby and Gene Kelly. Their segments are extremely dark, flat, grainy, fuzzy, and covered with dust and debris. But the worst is yet to come: most of the clips from the actual specials vary from somewhat to extremely blurry. NO attempt was made at restoration of these valuable old shows.

Such poor handling of his Christmas television legacy is a slap in the face to Bing and his family and an insult to people who have paid money for this THING--I can't call it anything else! All this is not to say that the presentation can't be enjoyed, but you'll have to train your eyes to look through the extreme fuzz and blur and let the music win you over. What could've been a visit to the wonderful Christmas television specials of yore (and it's a pity there's nothing like them on television today), turned into an opportunity for a video company to make a quick buck while not spending one red cent on quality. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!
