This card game ranks among one of our favorite all time games, our entire family loves playing Mille Bornes, we even bring it on vacation with us. Mille Bornes is fun to play, quick and easy to learn, and you can play a full game in under an hour. It's also quite educational, you need to use some basic math, memory skills and since the cards are written in both French and English you'll learn some new words. You can play Mille Bornes individually or with partners. I started playing in 6th grade and still have my original set, this Collector's Edition is exactly like the original game.

You don't have to be a Francophile to enjoy this game. I used to play this with my French professor and a few students after dinner. I miss the times we had, playing cards and listening to good music.

Although the rules are a little complicated to learn at first, this game is really fun. The vintage drawings on the cards are perfect and fun to look at. The deck is made out of durable card stock however the deck holder used to be made out of very hard plastic. Now it is made out of thin plastic, however to make up for it the card dock is now molded into the shape of a car. I loved this game as a kid and I love this game now. Out of the ordinary! Don't get the newer version, the drawings are lame. Get the vintage, it's worth it!

I've been playing this game since I was about 13 years old (and I'm in my 60s now!). My original version finally wore out so I bought a new one . . . no different, same old game. This is a card game but its purpose is to 'travel' a certain number of miles in order to win (1,000 of 'em). On your journey you may be dealt or draw cards that are hazardous to your trip (flat tires, out of gas, accidents) or slow you down (speed limits or stop signs), and you need to find other cards that will alleviate those troubles. Your opponent can give you any of these worrisome cards, as well. You cannot travel while you have a 'bad' card on your playing deck. The first player to reach their 1,000 miles (exactly) wins the game. We play games to 1,000 miles until the winner achieves a total of 10,000 miles (and this figure doesn't need to be exact). It sounds easy, but it's not! You need to keep track (in your head) of which hazards have been played, if there are any solution cards left (sometimes not!), and the number of miles you've traveled. You cannot exceed 1,000 miles, you have to hit it on the nose. As I said, I've played this game for 50 years so I can verify that it's quite entertaining for all ages!

I used to play this game when my children were very small (late 70's) and enjoyed it very much. I hadn't seen it for years, so when I found it again I just had to buy it! Now I've got another generation addicted! LOL
The game itself is pretty simple. It's like driving on a road trip. You have to play a Green Light card to go, then you play mile cards: 200 miles, 100 miles, 75 miles, 50 miles or 25 miles.
The goal is to be the first player to reach 1000 miles and you try to slow down your opponents by playing cards against them - like you can give them an Accident card and they are stopped until they draw a Repair card to fix it, or you hit them with an Out Of Gas card and they have to get an Extra Tank card before they can go again, etc. There are also 4 Safety cards and each one protects you from a certain Hazard. For example, no one can hit you with a Flat Tire if you have the Puncture Proof Safety card.
All in all, it's a lot of fun competition. This is a great game and I'm very happy to see it available once again!
