This is a great system for casual gaming. I am not a huge gamer but I enjoy playng this system on long car trips and occasionaly at home when I am bored. This is my absolute favorite Game Boy of all. It is small, light, and has a library of 400+ games. I even value this system over my GBA SP. True it may not have a color display but it has a very fine crisp black and white image. this system also features a contrast button to adjust the picture to your liking. It is very durable as well. Mine has survived much abuse (due to having a smaller sibling consatntly asking to play it then leaving it unattended to be stepped on.) Overall great system. I love the selection of classic fun filled games for it. I have lost my taste for newer Game Boy models. I don't understand all this new technology and the newer games just aren't made like they used to be. As a matter of fact I am selling My GBA SP to get money to buy another Game boy pocket to replace my old beat up one. This is the best system I have ever owned. It is fun, compact, and you can pick them up cheap due to it being outdated. I strongly suggest buying this for yourself or trust me your kids will love it!

Frankly, I hate computer games, and I really hate these little hand held computers that kids seem to be glued to everywhere you go these days. Few things depress me more than seeing a kid sitting indoors (or outdoors, for that mattter) on a beautiful day, eyes fixed on one of these horrid little devices.
So why on earth, then, did I buy one?
Because once you get rid of those awful games, you've got a neat little computer there- and it's cheap, too. It's a digital camera, a programmable controller, and generally just a great platform for hacking. There are hundreds of web sites out there with information on hardware and software hacking these little beasts, and they can be had new and used dirt cheap.
So throw out those games, and replace them with a soldering iron and logic probe. And have fun.
