I don't think I have even been dissapointed by Danny Elfman, and this does not prove the exception. I think that most people who loved the original Batman movie, will also love this soundtrack. Sometimes, the movie make the soundtrack worth listening to. Rarley, a soundtrack makes a movie worth watching. This is one of those rare cases.

Danny Elfman has created a masterpiece with the "Batman" score. If you've seen the movie and like it, you'll fall in love with the music right off the "bat". . . "The Batman Theme" is classic and the rest of the album takes from its dark noir-ish atmosphere and builds on it, crescending in several tracks, such as the Choral bombast of "The Bat Cave" and the all-out adrenaline pumping, blazing horn work of "Attack of the Batwing", my personal favorite track on the CD. But by no way are these the only good tracks. The playfulness of Elfman exhibited in "Mars Attacks", "Edward Scissorhands", and "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" is heard every once in a while to great effectiveness when related to the Joker, and you can almost see his gruesome laugh and hear his chuckle when the music suddenly bursts into a circus march. Listened to as a whole the album is very well laid out and can be listened through with no problem. One of the greats!

Danny Elfman is this generation's Bernard Herrmann. His film scores, from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure on, are full of magic and pathos, light and darkness. And "Batman" is, without a doubt, Elfman's most Herrmannesque score. Just listen to "Up the Cathedral" (my favorite cue on this album). It's a brilliant re-working of the overture from "Vertigo." Sends shivers up me spine! Elfman's a genius. I love this CD!

You won't be disappointed at all with this soundtrack. It has just as much suspense, drama, and action as the movie, maybe more. From the ever-famous batman theme, to the stirring end credits, you will feel like you're in Gotham City. Don't miss out, buy it today!

I love DannyElfman's music and admire his work!This particular score was actuallyDanny's first full blown action score,and still it's probably the best music I've heard from him,he even won an Emmy for it!So all I have to say is if you like Danny Elfman and you don't have the score to Batman, GET IT!
