Prince begins an era in R&B and popular music. Although Prince's commerical success with the New Power Generation pales in comparison to his success with the Revolution, NPG created music in my opinion the Revolution could not touch.
Prince brought music into rare form. Prince's sound with this album completely changed. Adding more bass, synths, and much more creative funk sounds.
The album is one track at 45 minutes long, I'm guessing because Prince wanted listeners to listen to the entire album straight through. But this album doesnt need that. It is a great album that had a great tour to back it up.
NPG started off a good foot with LoveSexy and Prince hasn't looked back since.

LoveSexy is my fave Prince album of all time. And definitely in the top 5 best Prince albums of all time. I have worn out this album on cassette, vinyl and cd. I am so glad for MP3's now. AnnaStesia is my fave Prince song all time, GlamSlam is incredible and Positivity always puts me in a great mood. I Wish U Heaven is great both lyrically as well as musically. Love is God--God is Love. Girl and Boys Love God Above. A must for any True Prince Fanatic.

Definitely in the top 10 Prince albums. Of course, the goofy sequential tracks kind of damper the fun. I want to listen to Alphabet St., not Eye No!!
Anyways, I figured out what the times are for each track, so it's useful if you want to fast-forward to said time or to split them apart via Audacity or some other mp3-editing software.

Take one look at the cover of "Lovesexy" and you can already tell where Prince is going with this album ... the cover, which shows a nude Prince sitting on a giant lotus flower with a beatific expression on his face, would be the picture of innocence and purity if it weren't for the strategically placed flower pistol that is a blatant phallic symbol. With "Lovesexy", Prince is taking his usual obsessions, sexuality and spirituality, and blending them together ... making sex spiritual and spirituality sexy.
Prince's last album," Sign o' the Times", was a 17-track, diverse opus that showcased Prince exploring all of his favorite musical styles and emotional moods. "Lovesexy" doesn't try to top "Sign o' the Times" in terms of diversity or length. Instead, with 'Lovesexy", Prince creates a 9-song album that is musically and thematically consistent, blending all of the songs together into one 45-minute, creamy electro-funk odyssey. "Lovesexy" is spellbinding, sleek and beautiful, showcasing one of the best musicians in the world at the top of his game; the end of the creative peak that began with "Purple Rain". Prince has released lots of great music since this, but "Lovesexy" is probably the last great Prince album.

working at 2 B'Way in lower Manhattan at the time of the release of this cd and lost my damn mind (as I normally did with all of Prince's releases). My co-workers thought I was crazy as hell singing the LOVESEXY part during the Alphabet Street song. I did not care. And actually, still don't! Prince is a Genius! Buy all of his music!
