If you just want to sit down and watch a movie and laugh, this is the movie to watch! No matter how many times I watch it I still enjoy it!

I love this movie. Marisa Tomei is hysterical as the "out of work hairdresser" girlfriend to Joe Pesci's Brooklyn auto mechanic turned lawyer character. Fred Gwynne adds the perfect touch as the southern judge who does not tolerate "mocking" in his courtroom. One of the funniest scenes is Vincent Gambini's (Pesci) first visit with the boys being tried and Rothenstein (Mitchell Whitfield) thinks that Vincent is the typical tough guy jailbird who is there to take advantage of him. Funny, funny stuff as the two are on different pages in their conversation.

ALthough I have seen the movie several times on cable, I finally decided to buy it. Marisa Tomei, Joe Pesci, Ralph Machio, and the late Fred Gwynn are a comedic team in this one. Machio's sidekick's deadpan looks in the courtroom are priceless. Marisa's heavy Brooklyn accent helps make the movie.

I just purchased this movie on DVD because I remembered that it was very funny! Joe Pesci plays Vinny, a lawyer from Brooklyn who comes to the aid of his cousin and his friend who are accused of murder. What makes this movie even more funny is Vinny's girlfriend, played by Marisa Tomei. When you get those two New Yorkers together and not only do they need to prove Vinny's cousin, Ralph Macchio innocent of murder, they need to learn what grits are!
Throw in the hilarious judge, played by Fred Gwynne and you have lots of laughs!
The only thing that bothers me about this movie, hence 4 stars instead of 5, is the offensive language. Actors don't need to use the F word constantly to make the movie funny. It would have been a much better movie without the bad language. But other than that, if you need some laughs, this is a great one to watch!

How my ratings work:
5 - I really liked/loved it
4 - I liked it
3 - Could've been better/worth a look
2 - Just didn't live up to the potential
1 - Simply aweful
This is one of my favorite comedies. I give it 5 stars because of the cast, not that I'm sying the script isn't bad, but the cast makes it even better. Joe Pesci is wonderful as always, showing that he's just as good with comedy as he is drama. Marisa Tomei is the standout, she steals every scene, she definatley earned that Oscar, and her accent makes everything she says sound sexy (especially when she argues with Pesci about a leaky fawcet). Fred Gwynne is also hilarious as the gruffy judge.
