The Roswell Legacy: The Untold Story of the First Military Officer at the 1947 Crash Site Books

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Disappointing
I've read many good books about UFOs and extraterrestrial visitors by authors such as Stanton Friedman, Richard Dolan, Timothy Good, Jenny Randles, Jim Marrs and Raymond Fowler. I saw a UFO up close and personal in 1994, so I know there is something going on whether the U.S. government wants to admit it or not.

I believe the Roswell incident really happened. The best book I have ever read on the subject is "Witness to Roswell" by Tom Carey and Donald Schmitt. I like Jesse Marcel Jr., and in fact interviewed him for a newspaper article on Roswell in 1997. However, with all that said I found his book an extreme disappointment. It really does not offer much more than what we already know. I had hoped to learn a lot more about Jesse Sr. and the events surrounding the Roswell crash, but, outside of a very short synopsis of his military career, there is not much here. The tiny amount of information on Marcel Sr. included in this miniature volume could have easily been the subject of a three-page Internet article.

The problems with this book are many. I'll summarize them below:

A. It is way too short. The print is pretty large and the book is only 187 pages, and that includes a nine-page index and two more pages for the authors, which include Marcel Jr. and his wife, Linda.

B. There is too much repetition in this book and no substance. You find yourself reading too many fluff paragraphs that contain nothing interesting or intriguing. Very boring stuff.

C. The book is poorly written.

D. The book includes a chapter written by Linda Marcel that restates information Jesse Jr. wrote in previous chapters.

E. Some of Marcel Jr.'s statements are not clear. In one breath he makes it clear that he believes in UFOs because he saw wreckage from a crashed saucer, but in another statement he critisizes the alien abduction facet. He says people who get the most media coverage "belong to the 'tinfoil hats' brigade. These are the people who offer such bizarre tales of abduction and the like that it is nearly impossible for any rational person to take them seriously." Does Marcel Jr. mean that everyone who claims to be abducted by aliens are part of this brigade? I don't know, and neither will anybody else who reads this book. Is he talking about, among other famous cases, the Betty and Barney Hill abduction?

As someone who knows UFOs are real and has respect for Marcel Jr., I hate having to give his book a poor review. But somebody has to say it. "The Roswell Legacy" truly sucked.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best Book On Roswell Period
If you want first hand information about Roswell, you must purchase this book. Jesse Marcel Sr. was highly trained and familiar with all types of radar reflector systems and materials. None of the material in the Project Mogul balloon arrays was mysterious or would seem out of this world. Only the purpose of the project was top secret, not the materials themselves. Plus the size of the debris field Jesse Marcel Sr. described is far larger than what a Mogul Balloon array would have caused. The whole Air Force Case Closed report was BUNK!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Truth is told
Before I read the book, I had a cursory understanding of Roswell, which has indeed been rehashed and written about multiple times, but when I read this book, it opened my heart and mind to the reality of what really happened at Roswell. I am also very proud of Jesse Sr and Jesse Jr for their service to the nation, as I too am a soldier in the army and an older one like Jesse. The foundation of this story can be found in the impecable reputations of of these witnesses, as far as I am concerned their testimony is unimpeacable. Jesse sr and Jesse Jr have now set the record straight. Roswell was the site of a crash involving an extraterestrial vehicle and the official story was altered to hide the truth, let us pray that this book will open the door to disclosure, those who were there know it, and the government also knows it, lets blow the lid off the darkness that covers the most profound truth of all, that we are not alone in the universe.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Roswell
Not too well written, but to be expected since it's basically a rehash of the story. Nice to hear it from the son, who is completely believable.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - This Book Is Useless
This book is a waste of paper. Marcel has absolutely nothing new to say or add to the case. He saw some junk in a box when he was a kid - big deal. He is a tool for the oligarchy; spewing words with no substance. His father told him NOTHING! He didn't even reference the most important books on the subject, "The Day After Roswell" by Corso and "Disclosure" by Steve Greer.

Save you money for something important. This book will be used to light the next fire in my wood stove.
