Sword of Damocles (Star Trek: Titan, Book 4) Books

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Okay story, but slow-moving
I've really enjoyed the Titan novels, but this is the weakest of the bunch. It's a pretty interesting story once you get into it, but it takes a VERY long time to get moving. There's about 100 pages of activity on the ship before the main plotline goes anywhere. Character development is nice, but other Trek authors have incorporated it in more interesting ways than Thorne does here. The main mystery of the "Eye" is pretty confusing but has a creative resolution at the end.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Complete letdown
The pacing, character development, and overall plot were poorly shaped and often-times, ill-defined. I have read most of the novels that are set in the Star Trek Universe and have seldom seen one (a Novel) as poorly written and un-enjoyable as this one. At times it is impossible to even connect with the supposed main characters involved in the muddy plotline. For me, the book just didn't read like a Star Trek novel. Several of the characters were totally un-engaging and completely un-likable. One such very annoying character happens to be an engineer on-board the ship. I don't say this often, but the book was a waste of money.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good book, but could be better...
I just got through reading the latest in the Star trek: Titan series. I thought the book was pretty good, but not as good as I had hoped.
This book focused more on a small group of characters, but there situation could be kinda un-clear at times.
The other three books, in my opinion, were much better.
This book was still a good read, just not as enthralling as the last three books in the series.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Star Trek Titan: Sword of Damocles
It never cease to amaze how the similar storyline formats of these novels can and still hold your attention but when the writer is good it can happen every time. I am two chapters shy of finishing this and I must say this is fine addition to the Titan saga. You get to know characters that were somewhat neglect in other novels, they become as real to you as Riker, Deanna, and Tuvok because of stories like these. Thorne gives Jaza Najem, Christine Vale, Xin Ra-Havreii and other characters back-stories, quirks and qualities that make them come alive and take shape in your mind. I miss the unique perspective and consideration that Michael A. Martin (Author), Andy Mangels (Creator) brought to the first two novels but this story certainly does not disappoint!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Book was okay . . . I too missed the riker and troi relationship
I like the previous reviewers thought the book was good, but also missed the relationship between riker and troi. This book was more like one of the old Star Trek TOS shows, where the situation was focused on more than the relationships. I'm also disappointed that it took two years for a sequel to the first 3 Star Trek Titan books. I really hope that the Star Trek people will finally focus on Star Trek TNG! How about a sequel to Nemesis?
