Spirit Walk, Book One: Old Wounds (Star Trek: Voyager) (Bk. 1)

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - For the Voyager Fans
This novel is worthy addition to voyager story plot. I couldn't put the book down in book two when the conclusion of this story was beginning to unfold.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Don't waste your money
Despite the ill advisement of most to not get this book; I did anyway because-well-because it is Star Trek and not just any star trek my favorite Voyager!! I love everything about star trek voyager its my fav series and my fav books to get. I really cannot say enough about it but this was a serious miss. I never say that about ST but come on!! A fast read? Every noise interrupted me because I could not get into this so called Voyager book. I didn't mind that Janeway wasn't the captain i enjoy reading her in the alpha quad as an admiral in books its entertaining. But the whole sky spirits and jaguar coming out of his head (sorry thats book 2 don't get me started on that one) The best part of the book was reading about Tom on Boreth (and then he left with Janeway) I wasn't looking for a continuation of Homecoming but I was looking for intrigue that was exciting and new characters that were fully explained and action that wasn't stupid. I would have loved to know more about seven's think tank and the doctor's thoughts (not just his one liners; Hello he's developed way past stating the obvious). There are new people on the ship so why do I get an unfulfilled sense of who they are; there is no explanation of the characters. ST is about moving forward and not being stagnate.

Why 2 stars and not one:
1. I liked the begining with Janeway, Kaz and Chakotay.
2. I liked the reference to Skalli and Kirk if you've read that book you'll understand.
3. I enjoyed Tom and B'lana story

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - It's still ST:Voyager, but with that lemony twist.
Though I was estatic when I opened the book for the first time, I soon realized it wasn't quite the same without more Janeway. Though (now) Admiral Janeway plays a part in the book, I just don't feel like she is suited to the role she now finds herself in. After all, two things that really set Voyager apart was that fact that it was Janeway in command, and they were lost in the Delta quadrant. While the book is good, the new characters leave a little to be desired. Not a whole lot of depth to them, but we hope to see the new Voyager crew develop over time! The plot is 100% original, and is good. The second book (enemy of my enemy) really ends on a note that is exciting, though a little confusing, and a copule loose ends to tie up. I would buy the next new voyager book that ties into this series, but I don't think I'd be inclinded to rush out and pay full price.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The journey continues
I've been a fan of Voyager since the begining, and am glad to see that it doesn't end here, Voyager will continue on in some form or rather. Would love to see a Voyager movie in the distant future as there is the possiblity.
Anyway the book was fantastic continuing on from a story from the 2nd season, this sees Chakotay experiening pieces from the past as well as experincing challanges as USS Voyager's newly appointed captain. All I can say id this id good, you have to read this to find out more. Can't wait for book 2

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Surprise Find
I found this book on the returns trolley at my local library and decided to borrow it for a quick read.

It delivered a quick read I had chewed through it in a couple of days.

Having not had the opportunity to read the previous homecoming books was no impediment to my understanding and enjoyment of this story.

I liked revisiting old Voyager characters and meeting new ones, but my beef with the book is that it didn't come to a very satisfactory conclusion.

I was about 12 pages out from the end when I realized that there were too few pages for the book to reach the climax that it took way too long building up to.

I don't like cliff hanger endings and this book ended on one which, whilst it made me keen to return to my library in search of book two also pissed this aspiring novelist right off as having broken one of the cardinal rules of writing ie "finish what you started!"

A good one to slip in your suitcase for a weekend away, otherwise.
