Having been a fan of DS since childhood and feeling somewhat "empowered" with my own knowledge, I found this book to be right on the money with a lot more "stuff" that I didn't know. Craig writes what he knows and it's amazing considering his discovery of it after the show ended. Along with Craig's book on Louis Edmonds, I have found that he really has a passion and love for this show and it's many stars. I look forward to future books by this author.

I would like to thank Mr. Hamrick for his new book "Barnabas and Company." It's books like this one, and the Dark Shadows Almanac, and the Dark Shadows Companion that help to keep Dark Shadows alive in our hearts after nearly 40 years. This book belongs in the library of every DS fan.

Finally, an honest, compulsively readable collection of portraits on the DARK SHADOWS cast.
A nice remedy to the endless amount of photo-heavy, content-lite other DS books.
If you want to really learn about the real people behind the characters, and like well-written material, this is your best option.
A must have, which adds a welcome degree of historical context and richness.
Highly RECOMMENDED!

First, I accidently erased my original review, which had 10 people out of 16 finding it helpful. So this is a reposting of my review. This book was a letdown. It's not very interesting at all. There are a lot of good "Dark Shadows" books out there- including Hamrick's collectibles book- but this is not one of them. It's not very informative, in fact the only interesting part was the "Where are they now?" section. "Dead" for quite a few of them, who fell victim to AIDS. Dark Shadows had a unique essence, and this book sheds no light on that. I like a nice balance of photos and information, and this one does not provide it. And any book that has almost zippo on Jonathon Frid is missing what saved Dark Shadows from cancellation in the first place. Unfortunately, despite a few words on his website about Dark Shadows, Mr. Frid HAS disassociated himself from this show (he states that if you're looking for DS info, that there are other sites that provide that information, and it's almost impossible to get an interview on DS out of the 80 year old Mr. Frid). In fact, if you're collecting the DS DVDs, you'll see Mr. Frid has quite a few unflattering things to say about the show and its fans. And as one of hundreds who lined up to see him when he came here to Baltimore back in the 60s to get his autograph , which I still have, that's a bit of a disappointment. Despite what other reviewers may say, I still think one should get this book only if you're a DS completist. There are much better books out there, also available from Amazon.

This book is lots of fun to read. It's got lots of fun information that I didn't know and I thought I knew it all. lol. I don't agree with the previous review. Yeah it's not like the books written by Kathryn Lee Scott, but that's not bad. Her books have mostly the the same stories over and over just in different ways. And the same pictures that I've seen alot before. Dont get me wrong all her books and there great but Craig Hamrick is a good writer and this is a really cool book that any Dark Shoadws fan will enjoy. Not many pictures, but I have plenty of Dark Shadows pictures so I don't care. Its fun to read. Buy it. Buy it Buy it. You won't be sorry!!!
