Editorial Review:
Product Description: Personally selected by Ed Ames, these episodes feature Mingo disguising himself as a white trapper, singing an original ballad and even fighting his brother (played by Ed Ames in a dual role) and includes talented co-stars ranging from Maurice Evans and Walter Pidgeon to Forrest Tucker, Cesar Romero and Victor French.
DISC 1 Not In Our Stars (Season 1 original air date 12/31/64) Lord Dunsmore, the British Governor General, orders Boonesborough settlers out of Kentucky within 30 days, claiming that he holds the title to their land. Co-starring Walter Pidgeon. The Tamarack Massacre Affair (Season 2 original air date 12/30/65) Daniel is getting ready to negotiate a friendship treaty with the Iroquois Indians but Madeline Lorne says the Iroquois are guilty of a massacre of which she is the sole survivor. The Matchmaker (Season 3 original air date 10/27/66) To avert tribal warfare, Daniel and Mingo are given the task of bringing a rebellious Creek princess to wed the son of a Shawnee chief. Beaumarchais (Season 4 original air date 10/12/67) Shakespearean actor Maurice Evans appears as a French novelist who poses as the head of a traveling troupe to smuggle gold through British lines.
DISC 2 My Brother's Keeper (Season 1 original air date 10/8/64) Yadkin insists that the Creeks who wounded him and killed a party of Cherokee were lead by none other than Mingo. This is the only episode where Ed Ames plays two roles. Due to severe film deterioration, about 5 minutes of the season one episode, "My Brother's Keeper," was beyond restoring and was omitted from the Season 1 DVD release. Note that a better copy was located in 2007, and the restored scene is included in this special release. Gabriel (Season 2 original air date 1/6/66) On the way to a French trading post, Daniel and Mingo are captured by a Spanish Army captain who thinks Daniel is Gabriel Lejeune, a French revolutionary wanted by the Spaniards. Co-starring Cesar Romero. Requiem for Craw Greene (Season 3 original air date 12/1/66) Mingo s promise to a dying friend takes him to Logan s Fort, a place where Indians are not welcome. He disguises himself as a white trapper, and learns that by driving away or killing all the Indians, Roark Logan owns all the property in the area, with the exception of a tract of land for which Mingo now holds title. The Ballad Of Sidewinder and Cherokee (Season 4 original air date 9/14/67) Daniel and Mingo pit one river pilot against another in order to recover the furs which were stolen from them. Ed Ames (Mingo) sings an original ballad. Co-stars Forrest Tucker, Victor Bruno and Victor French.
