Product Description: ON HIS LATEST EXPEDITION, DR. RICK MARSHALL IS SUCKED INTO A SPACE-TIME VORTEX ALONGSIDE HIS RESEARCH ASSISTANT AND A REDNECK SURVIVALIST. IN THIS ALTERNATE UNIVERSE, THE TRIO MAKE FRIENDS WITH A PRIMATE NAMED CHAKA, THEIR ONLY ALLY IN A WORLD FULL OF DINOSAURS AND OTHER FANTASTIC CREATURES.
Amazon.com: How to make a big-screen version of Sid and Marty Krofft's Seventies TV show? In this case, place the thing in the meaty hands of Will Ferrell and give the special effects a big upgrade. If you grew up with the show, you will recall that Marshall, Will, and Holly fall through a time warp into a land where dinosaurs roam and all kind of weird things grow. In this version, Ferrell plays a disgraced scientist, Anna Friel a brainy postgraduate, and Danny McBride (Pineapple Express) the sleazy owner of a desert tourist trap that happens to be home to the time portal. This begins to suggest how this movie wants to have it both ways: keep some of the original's kid appeal, but raunch it up just enough for fans of Judd Apatow's movies. The result is that nothing really works very well. There's no momentum to the plot, the locations are monotonous, and Ferrell and McBride are desperate in their attempts to generate something out of nothing. Granted, they succeed a few times--these guys are too funny to whiff completely--but the strain is visible. And although the effects, are competent, the movie can't even get its fantasy rules straight (why is the T. Rex sometimes ferocious and sometimes indifferent?). Fans of the show will enjoy hearing the cheesy theme song worked in (Ferrell performs a zonked version) and seeing how the movie updates the menacing Sleestaks. But on a basic level Land of the Lost has no idea what it's doing, or what it means to do. --Robert Horton

Wow, the what an awful let down! Did the screenwriter ever see the t.v. show? Does will Farrell have to wreck so many movies with the same schtick? Forget this junk, dont let the kids see it but, do rent or buy the DVD of the original 2 seasons and find what this movie lost.

Horrible, stupid, its Will Ferril's best yet! This was the DUMBEST movie we have EVER seen(even worse than Freedom State)!!! Don't waste your money! Will Ferril is an amazingly stupid actor. If you have a brain the size of a walnut you will enjoy this movie!(If your brain is any bigger please do not watch, it will destroy your brain cells)My IQ is now 60...it used to be 125.

This was the worst movie I have ever watched. I did not even finish watching it because it was so bad. If I could have given this movie 0 (or less) stars I would. There is so much crude, stupid so called "humor" that was not even funny and was very offensive. The plot was dumb and it did not even follow the original series at all. I would not recommend this movie to anyone.

I'd like to give this movie 3 1/2 stars. I can't believe all the 1 star reviews. I watched this with my two teenagers and we found plenty to laugh at in this movie. No one should have expected a serious action/adventure move with a few laughs. This is a Will Ferrell movie! It's goofy and kind of rauncy, but it is funny. Someone complained the T Rex was inconsistent. Come on people, loosen up! The T Rex understood English in the first scene it was in. How hard do you want to think about this???!? ... Read More

I was a childhood fan of the original series back in the 70s. It was campy, fun and an innocent tv show for kids. This movie made a mockery of the series. It seems like every "TV-Based" movie lately has modern day humor such as poop, fart, urine and sex jokes. The Land of the Lost movie was no exception. I don't ever remember Will talking Rick Marshall into kissing Chaka or Will's mouth next to Chaka's groin while they sleep.
And the movie industry is wondering WHY most of the movie theater ... Read More
