Editorial Review:
Product Description: Panasonic has always been at the cutting edge of Blu-ray technology, but its latest range of players looks to push the boundaries even further. The DMP-BD60 is the entry-level player in the company's latest three-strong line-up - which also includes the step-up DMP-BD80 and the DMP-BD70V Blu-ray/VHS combi (no, really) - and the big breakthrough on these models is the inclusion of Viera Cast functionality, also found on the company's Z1, V10 and G15 NeoPDP TVs.

I purchased a 46inch Panasonic 1080P plasma tv and this Blu-Ray to go with it. It is stunning, pure viual and sound enjoyment. The tv was about $1,000 and the Blu Ray was like $140 (delivered) and you simply can't beat it. Addmittedly I do run a nice Denon reciever with Paradigm speakers for sound but as far as the visual quaility this set up ROCKS!!! If you are 2nd guessing, STOP RIGHT NOW AND BUY!!!!!!!!

I have the freezing problem in 50% of the disks I played. From the look of the glitching and the reproducibility of the freezes, I concluded that the player was just not able to read the data. No amount of firmware updates will address this issue. Since most people seem to be satisfied with the player, I believe that an exchange will likely address this issue. This experience reminded me of DVD technology about 10 years ago. I guess we have to wait a few more generations before the technology ... Read More

I recently purchased a Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu-Ray player. Based on the customer reviews I read, I assumed this player would render better video/sound than my 3 year old PS3 60Gb. I unfortunently was mistaken. The DVD upscaling was only equivalent to my PS3 and the sound was noticably worse.
Considering that my PS3 was already paid for and the DMP-BD60K was easily refundable, I returned it to Fry's the following day and got a Harmony PS3 adapter in it's place for about 1/3 the price. ... Read More

I love this player. Payed much more for it when it first came out but have not had a single problem with it. It stays cool even after hours of use. Picture quality is brilliant and never hiccups. With its standby feature it doesn't take long to boot up. The only thing that is missing is Netflix. Who knows, maybe they can add that in a future firmware update.

If you plan to play AVCHD disc with this player forget it. Only the play function works, any other function on the remote will freeze the video and you have to start the disc from the beginning. I purchased one of these from Electronics Expo, I try to return the unit but they charge 20% restocking fee plus shipping so the cost for returning the unit is approx. 30% and you have to file a complain to Amazon before they response to your email. At last I kept the unit. The latest firmware still did not fix ... Read More
