This is one of the most disappointing prop replicas i have purchased in a long time. Starting with the medical scanner was not put in the box and from what i have seen and read from other reviews i guess i am not missing much.
Not only is art asylum using a a poor company to manufacture the toys but the quality control department is slip shod also.
And to make matters worse the company that i ordered it from there shipping department did not even check the box to make sure ... Read More

I am a 34 year old man who had put most of his geekhood behind him, until the release of the new Trek movie, which has caused me to backslide. Now I find myself spending money on TOS props to satisfy my 8 year old self (why weren't they making this stuff when I was a kid?) Despite this, I feel a little perspective/personal pride are in order.
If you're a grown adult who is buying Trek props, it is beyond absurd to go about lamenting their inferior workmanship! For God's sake, if somebody ... Read More

I purchased the science tricorder version of this product, but they are basically the same.
I own a prop-quality tricorder, purchased years ago at a convention, that was supposedly made by the same folks who made the props for the show. They sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars on ebay, but I'll never ... Read More

I wanted to acquire some original series Star Trek prop for a comedy show I was working on, and since I worked out some jokes to use with a Tricorder, it seemed I was going to have to find one.
This unit is very close to the ones used in the original TV series, though it seems several models of the prop made appearances over the years so it's hard to say which one should be "the" Tricorder design. This is the medial tricorder, which means the fake screen (which looks like a tiny CRT TV) has the ... Read More

I bought both models of tricorder and both were poorly assembled and painted but with different flaws. This one has a huge blob of paint texture across the silver front bar. It looks like a paintbrush was applied just before it dried. The voice of McCoy sounds like one of the chipmunks. I could care less about the scanner (it looks good for what it is) but the basic fit and finish of this item is far below the quality I've come to expect from other AA prop toys. Should I cancel my preorder for the TWOK ... Read More
