For those who never thought Disney would release a film in which Santa Claus is kidnapped and tortured, well, here it is! The full title is Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, which should give you an idea of the tone of this stop-action animated musical/fantasy/horror/comedy. It is based on characters created by Burton, the former Disney animator best known as the director of Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and the first two Batman movies. His benignly scary-funny sensibility dominates the story of Halloweentown resident Jack Skellington (voice by Danny Elfman, who also wrote the songs), who stumbles on a bizarre and fascinating alternative universe called ... Christmastown! Directed by Henry Selick (who later made the delightful James and the Giant Peach), this PG-rated picture has a reassuringly light touch. Another one of my friends got this for me as a gift. Again, I was giddy with delight (they all know me so well)! While I thought it odd that Disney would reproduce something that was fairly dark, it was so great to see this movie again, as I hadn't seen it in years. The remaster was wonderful as the colors were more vibrant. I especially loved all the bonus features like Frankenweenie, Vincent and The storyboard to film comparison. This is my first Blu-Ray purchase and I couldn't be more pleased. This is one of my favorite films, even though I only had it on Laser Disc before this. Will watch this many more times!

This Blu-Ray Disc version of The Nightmare Before Christmas is a must buy for any fan of the film. It has the most amazing picture and sound, along with plenty of extras to go with it. And at about the same price as the DVD, why not go with the Blu-Ray? I highly recommend this product.
