Editorial Review:
Product Description: Final Fantasy IV for DS is a must-play for those looking to jump into the best-selling RPG franchise in the world. Four elemental Crystals, each possessing awesome power, lie scattered throughout the realm. However, men are quick to covet things that offer strength, and easily corrupted by the might that they possess. Seduced by the promised power of the Crystals, the kingdom of Baron begins employing unprovoked force to seize them from peaceful nations. The dark knight Cecil - Lord Captain of Baron's elite force, the Red Wings - is ordered by his king to obtain the Crystals, but soon begins to question the monarch's motives. Stricken with grief at his own actions, yet burdened by his loyalty to his country and his personal sense of honor, Cecil at last decides to turn from the path of darkness and destruction. Enraged, the king accuses him of disloyalty, strips Cecil of his command, and sends him off to slay a mysterious beast that lurks in the nearby Valley of Mist. Cecil embarks on a fateful journey that will bring trials, betrayals, friendship, loss, and self-discovery. Train and customize Whytkin by playing a variety of mini-games and challenge another player to head-to-head battle via local wireless connection

I never played the original, and I've only played all the Kingdom Hearts, FFX, X-2, XII and the updated FFIII DS. In short, this feels like a continuation and perfection of III. Voice acting was a nice touch, graphics feel classier and the plot holds up. Make no mistake, you will need a strategy guide with a few bosses, but overall, its workable. I'm glad I purchased this game, it makes me unexpectedly happy.

This is nothing more than an enhancement of a redo from a couple of years ago. I thought that there was new elements, but they are so few and far in between that there really is none. If you already have the previous version, save your money and buy a different game. If you do not have it, then buy the earlier version, because there are too few save points in this game and if you are killed, you have to start from the start.

I recently started playing the Final Fantasy series for the first time :0...I'm a 34 year old male and can't explain why I missed out on this series when I was younger. I started with FF I&II for the gba and then III for the DS and then this one. So my impressions/review comes from playing them in order for the first time without any comparisons to the later ones (IE: highly regarded VI and VII)
I enjoyed this game, but unlike others I enjoyed Final Fantasy III for the DS more.

hmph. Square-Enix obviously doesn't call this a remake if they've decided to take the stylus functionality that was made famous in the Final Fantasy III DS Remake out of this one, which for everyone who has bought this game is disappointed about. people who has bought this game (especially me) want to make very good use of the stylus and Square-Enix remade the game to prevent that. therefore I and alot of people around the world who like i said have bought and played this game are utterly disappointed ...
