Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - don't upgrade the firmware
Samsung finally sent me a CD to upgrade the firmware on my BD-P1500.

Not only didn't the disc upgrade the unit, it corrupted it. It the BluRay player no longer functions, at all.

When I contacted Samsung, reminding them that it was their CD which caused the unit to fail, I got a run-around regarding the warranty of the unit-It was puchased 14 months ago. They would cover the parts, I had to pay for the labor.

When I argued that I didn't do anything to corrupt ... Read More

I owned this item & thank god I purchased it at Walmart!
Well I have owned it for 5 months & it would not play anything dvd or bluray for more then 5 minutes and screen would go blank and the machine would start making the strangest sounds! I was mad I paid $300 for this machine & was originally wanting a Panasonic BD-30 at that time! Well my friend came over and asked you still have your box! I was like yeah well he said as long as it had the Walmart tags still on it that they would take it back ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Samsung Support Leaves Much to be Desired
The Blu-ray player worked great for 8 months, but then I updated the firmware throught the ethernet port and it stopped working. Could not eject a disc that was inside. I contacted Samsung and since it was out of warranty, they refused to fix even though it was their update that messed up the player.

They had me send it to a repair center at which point they told me it would be $165 to fix it. I understand that their may be problems, but I am not the first one to have issues with this player, ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Samsung BD-P1500: a $250 lesson?
I chose this blu-ray player 1)out of faith in its "SAMSUNG" brand and 2)for its great feature sets. What I overlooked were the red flags concerning the BD-P1500s many service issues, many of which revolved around firmware updates and warranty issues.

I plucked the next paragraph nearly verbatim from one of a dozen other user forums I've visited regarding the SAMSUNG BD-P1500), as it described perfectly the countless problems I've experienced from the day the BD-P1500 was unpacked: "The player ... Read More
