Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Horton Hears A Very Good Soundtrack
I've never been a huge fan of John Powell, but this score is very enjoyable. It's style is very unique, with an almost Spanish feel to it. (Quick guitar and blaring brass)

Despite the fact that it was composed for a G-rated children's movie, the final couple of songs are quite epic, progressing from dire , to frantic, and finally triumphant.

My personal favorites are "Clover Field Chase," "The Quest," and "We Are Here."

Seuss has not been well served by Hollywood in the past. You know that and I know that so I'm not going to go into it; with the exception of the music.

Seuss books have a very odd tone to catch. They are inherently strange and wacky yet the characters don't realize that. To them this is life and as such there is inherent drama as well. John Powell has always had a unique style and sound ever since his days of starting out under the guidance of Hans Zimmer. He is now one of the best composers working in the industry and IS the best animation composer working today.
