Editorial Review:

amazon.com:
Based on the true story of gangster Jack Martin, Walter Matthau directs and writes his only movie, and also stars in it. Jack Martin is a notorious gangster and cop killer who decides to hide out in a small town, where he meets and begins to fall in love with good-hearted and honest Carol Logan (Grace), the local librarian. But Jack is short on funds, and manages to pull off a local bank robbery that nets him a huge amount of money. However, now he has the cops and the FBI after him, along with the local crime boss Earl Dawson (McFarlan), who is upset that he did not get a cut of the robbery. But eventually the two criminals team up and end their reins of terror, but can Carol's love reform a gangster's heart?
