Editorial Review:

Product Description:
THE JACK BENNY SHOW
Jack Benny began his career in show biz on the airwaves, and by 1950 he was ready to enter the realm of television. With his move from radio to the small screen, Benny brought along with him many supporting actors from his original show. Apart from the familiar characters that joined Jack Benny's television show from his precursor radio program, Benny managed to land many top stars as guests. Among the numerous stars to make appearances on The Jack Benny Show, were celebrities like Ken Murray, Frank Sinatra, Claudette Colbert, Basil Rathbone, Johnny Carson, Marilyn Monroe, and Humphrey Bogart to name a few. The Jack Benny Show enjoyed a long enduring run of fifteen years, served as a springboard for several up-and-coming celebrities, and made Jack Benny one of the most loved comedians in the history of American television.

GROUCHO MARX - YOU BET YOUR LIFE
Groucho Marx is one of many stars to make a radio broadcast their debut, only to move to TV once the radio show reached popularity. But Marx didn't go the usual route with a sitcom or talk show; rather, he made a name for himself hosting a game show called, You Bet Your Life. The show, broadcast on radio, originally aired in 1947, becoming a televised radio show in 1950. But things didn't go off without a hitch--sponsors nearly backed out when Marx refused to wear a costume on air. Without sponsorship the show would have been canceled. Luckily, the comedian was able to continue with the backing of the sponsors and without having to wear a costume when he pointed out that there was no contract clause stating that he must do so. Marx's attitude about the whole thing was, "If I can't be funny on television without funny clothes and makeup, to hell with it!"

But Marx was funny and he became famous for his improvisational grilling of contestants. In fact, some of his onstage antics are the most hilarious in the history of television! He had a quick wit and an uncanny knack of delivering the punch line.

RED SKELTON: AMERICA'S FAVORITE FUNNYMAN
A clown with a heart of gold, Red Skelton's mission in life was to make people laugh. A first-class comedian, Skelton won the world over with his legendary alter-egos including Junior the Mean Widdle Kid (famous for the expression, "I dood it"); country bumpkin Clem Kadiddlehopper; clown hobo Freddie the Freeloader; con man San Fernando Red; henpecked husband George Appleby; drunkard Willie Lump Lump; boxer Cauliflower McPugg; and the not-so-honest lawman, Sheriff Deadeye. These characters and more made appearances on his popular television series The Red Skelton Show -- the second longest running TV show in history at twenty years of broadcasting. For the duration of this time, Skelton's series maintained top ten and top twenty ratings and won several awards. Packed with celebrity guests, pratfalls, pranks, and silly sketches, The Red Skelton Show continues to delight audiences time and time again, proving that Red Skelton is indeed "America's favorite funnyman."
