When he finally comes to he is comforted by two tramps who take him in as one of their own. The three of them land in a small town where Barnes falls in love with the daughter of a bank president. This comedy stars Johnny Hines a popular comedic actor and leading man during the 1920s. The film was remade as both a feature and a serial in 1934. Johnny Hines, the star of BURN 'EM UP BARNES, made a series of now mostly-lost Mastodon Films silent shorts as a character named Torchy. "Barnes" was his first feature. After appearing in 77 photoplays between 1916 and '28, Johnny's career faltered in the sound era.
Hines co-directed here along with actor George Beranger (he appeared in many of D.W. Griffith's greatest works).
