However, in an unusual plot twist, Roy does not outwit the criminals and is instead captured by them. It's up to local fantasy cowboy novel writer Lee Madison, whom Roy hates due to her unrealistic depiction of cowboys, to single handedly rescue Roy and bring the criminals to justice. One of the best action-packed Rogers films, and a wonderful depiction of Roy's humble character.

Roy poses as the ranch's new cook in order to complete his second assignment: tame and woo Cyclone's wild, volatile daughter Dale. Roy gets his first screen kiss here from Betty Lou, Dale's bratty kid sister, who almost steals the show.
UNDER NEVADA SKIES - 1946, 69 Mins., B&W Starring: Roy Rogers, George "Gabby" Hayes, Dale Evans, Douglas Dumbrille, Leyland Hodgson, Tristram Coffin, Rudolph Anders, Iron Eyes Cody Synopsis: Rodeo star Roy Rogers returns home to find that his old friend Tom Craig has been murdered after he was accused of stealing a family crest from Helen Williams. Helen joins up with Roy and Gabby Whittaker to find the killers and the crest, and find Arthur Courtney and his gang are behind the murder. Roy and Gabby find the crest hidden at the Craig ranch, but are quickly captured by the outlaws. Helen gathers together the Sons of the Pioneers, and Roy's local Indian friends, to come to their rescue.
