All groovy things must come to an end, and the season-eight DVD set marks the conclusion of the popular retro/teen comedy That '70s Show with a fair amount of nostalgic extras to help ease the blow for fans. Though the producers were clearly angling to extend the program's lifespan with the introduction of new characters, most notably Josh Meyers as new kid Randy, That '70 Show had clearly run its course by season eight. It simply couldn't overcome the loss of key players Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher (who appears in only a handful of episodes here)--the show's real heart and humor--despite stalwart support by Danny Masterson and Wilmer Valderrama (and the unbeatable duo of Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp), and the gags feel unfocused and cartoonish. Still, there are amusing episodes to be found throughout the set, most notably "You're My Best Friend" (Hyde has a disastrous bachelor party prior to his even more horrible marriage to stripper Samantha), "My Fairy King" (Jackie discovers her feelings for Fez), and the finale, which ushers the gang into the 1980s with an agreeable touch of sentiment. Supplemental features fall in line with all the previous '70s Show sets; director David Trainer provides commentary on four episodes, including the finale, while co-star Tommy Chong and Meyers get their own "Flashback" retrospectives to discuss their time on the series. Trainer reappears to provide a tour of two of the series' most famous sets: the Foreman's house and the water tower, while "Season 8 in 8 Minutes" is another extraneous montage of clips. The set's best extra--and perhaps the most valuable for series fans--is the 25-minute That '70s Show Through the Years: A Retrospective, which provides interviews with the main cast members culled from the show's entire network run. -- Paul Gaita

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Funny at times, slow at times, but worth the price
I was born in the 70's, hence I do not remember anything of substance about the decade. I'm told that this show missed a lot of the essence and fun of that interesting decade, but I am still a guarded (PG-style content)fan of the show.

This DVD set is really hilarious at times, other times it is slow and drags on. I was glad to see a couple old characters leave for they were boring and seemed to distract from the humor and the theme.

At this current price it's worth the ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - A sad season for a great series.
Being a huge That '70s Show fan I will say I can not tolerate to watch season 8. I can't watch because it breaks my heart to see a once endearing show turn into a joke. Losing Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher was enough, but to disrespect fans with "Randy" and "Sam" was the kill.
I still love the series as a whole, it was one of the most realistic, funniest, most poignant sitcoms ever. But season 8 was like a bad dream.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - The Final Season
I am someone who loves and is a fan of seasons 1-7 of That 70s Show and the show in general. After watching the last season of this show and reading the reviews I agree and disagree with other people.

First of all I don't get why people completely hate it. Yes it's going to go down as the worst season because Eric (Topher Grace) and Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) aren't there. Nothing can replace them or even come close to seasons 1-7. That's fine. But storylines aren't the strength of this ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Season 8 Broke my Heart!! Producers - be ashamed - be very ashamed.
Let me start by saying that I am/was, the BIGGEST "that 70's show" fan ever to live. I went thru a cpl yrs where I watched hours of shows EVERY single night and knew almost each episode by heart.lol. So, I felt more at home with these characters than I think I have with any other show. When Eric left at the end of season 7, I knew season 8 wouldnt make it. Lets face it..Eric is the center of this group, They're HIS friends, HIS family, HIS house and basement...come on people! Kelso..I could have ... Read More
