The Chipmunks may have been CGI-ized but the helium-distorted, super-high-pitched singing style of Alvin, Simon and Theodore has been preserved. If you have kids or are a kid at heart (with a special fondness for novelty tunes), this is a goldmine. The 'munk classic "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas, Don't Be Late)" is covered twice: the "DeeTown OG Mix" is a fairly faithful version, while the "DeeTown Rock Mix" goes the emo-lite route; another nugget, "Witch Doctor," also gets dusted up, with the addition of a so-so rap. Nice bonus: The 1958 versions of these two songs are included as well, for old times' sake. Newer tracks are just as zany. The CD starts off with a take on David Powter's hit "Bad Day," which sounds completely insane done Chipmunk-style; "Funky Town" is downright hair-rising. The DeeTown Syndicate not only produced it all but also contributes several songs of its own that waffle between corny hip-hop ("How We Roll") and contempo Disney Channel style ("Coast 2 Coast"). We watched this movie some time ago, my daughter couldn't have enough of it, and she was CRAZY about it! I found myself captured by those little creatures as well. Now she's singing along with the soundtracks in my car, how cute!
L-O-V-E every song of the adorable high-pitched chipmunk vocals, especially "The Chipmunk Song", "Bad Day", "Funkytown" and "Follow Me Now".
Put down the books, sing and smile!

My grandson cant get enough of the movie and now he gets to belt out a tune in the car. He thinks he knows the words, too funny. lots of fun.

Here we have a great album for tweens (6-12). Alvin, Simon and Theodore also re-visit "Witch Doctor" in a more Hip Hop feel. Their cover of "Funkytown" has a heavier feel than the 70s disco classic. Overall, this album has a upbeat Urban feel without the territorial lyrics.

You know you're a nanny when you are driving alone in your car and it takes you 10 minutes to realize you are 24 and listening to the Alvin and the Chipmunks (or is you're my 5 year old that i nanny or...Elvin and the Chick-a-munks) cd all by yourself withing even thinking about it..
it's a cute CD (cute movie too) with cute songs in it, and cute covers of real songs. kids love the CD!
