Amazon.com: There's something about this film that's so irresistible, despite its grandiose manipulation. Maybe because it recounts the greatest air battle in history, achieving the greatest aerial battle in film history. Maybe because it has such a terrific cast (Harry Andrews, Michael Caine, Trevor Howard, Curt Jurgens, Laurence Olivier, Nigel Patrick, Christopher Plummer, Michael Redgrave, Ralph Richardson, Robert Shaw, Patrick Wymark, and Edward Fox). Maybe because it's so technically well-made, thanks to the Bond team of producer Harry Saltzman and director Guy Hamilton and the great cinematographer Freddie Young. Or maybe because there is something truly riveting about watching the British kick the Nazis back to Germany. --Bill Desowitz

There are a plethora of reviews of the movie, but my review is mostly a comparison of the BD vs DVD version. I won't discuss its merits as a war film.
The BD version is fantastic, and is equal or superior to the theatrical release I vaguely remember as a child and beyond superior to the DVD version.
The audio is crisp and clear and makes good use of its uncompressed audio track. For a movie released in 1969, the sound is 21st century quality: the effects roar into your ... Read More

Battle of Britain (1969) was a four star film as far as I am concerned. It made me feel as though I was an eyewitness to these historic events and the only reason I can fault the film was that it was a little on the long side.

This has to be one of the best war movies ever made and I thought it was extremely authentic from the aircraft, to the clothing, to the locations. This movie is about the Battle of Britain in 1940 seen from both sides. I don't think many people understand how close the west came to being overtaken by the Nazi's and the Japanese. If the Battle of Britain had been lost, the world now would be a very different place.

Excellent DVD, no music score on this version however the collector's edition does have the original VHS music score.
