I Tivo a few shows a week - and they are generally on in the background as we (G and I) do any number of things. But this show just reached out and grabbed us - sat our butts down and compelled attention. Not because of 24-ish explosions or maudlin, mellow-dramatic plot twists. I love this show. The premise is absurd, but if you just focus on Holly Hunter's wonderful performance of a tough cop with problems, you can sail along for the ride. She drinks like a fish, she smokes like a chimney, but she's a good cop, a good aunt, a good friend. Good humor, not gruesome like too many contemporary crime dramas. The swearing is realistic and doesn't bother me. A lot of fun. I hope it lasts. I will buy it when it comes on DVD!
