The two main female characters are entertaining although the overall storyline is... well, yawn. The supporting characters are okay although tiring. The DVD quality is a little disappointing, especially on a big HD-LCD, and our Season 2 Disk 8 DVD did not work for some reason.

The series is phenononal. I believe the best writing on TV so far in the new millenium. I bought this as a Gold Box. Started watching it..again...and it is still fresh, funny, and bright.
So the series is 5 plus stars for sure. But DVDs are another story. If you are going to shell out money, I think the 'contract' means you get extras. I like the series a lot but the case they came in was the stupidest case I've ever seen. I read the reviews that other people wrote about how it looked like a barbie doll case but I didn't understand exactly how badly they meant it. It actually looks like a box that a barbie might come in and it's the SIZE of a barbie box too! It's HUGE and has no place on the dvd rack where I keep my collection of other tv series.

This was a gift for my wife. Gilmore Girls is her favorite show and she is very pleased with this collection. I have found myself looking through the Gilmore-isms and Episode guide books. Great stuff!
It's nice having all those episodes at our disposal and it's the perfect gift for any fan of the show.
