Editorial Review:
Album Description: The Derailers came along in the 90's with a hybrid of Bakersfield country and 60's rock and roll with the end results being astonishing. Big guitars and great songs made them stand out to both country and rock fans. This is music with grit and polish at the same time. Their albums should be essential listening to any music fan but the real treat is seeing them live. The Derailers take you to another dimension where you, the band and their music become one...they are that good!- Terry Currier, Music Millennium.
Amazon.com: There was a time when every Derailers album could have carried this title, since the band owes as much to Buck Owens as fellow Austinites Asleep at the Wheel do to Bob Wills. Since the departure of Tony Villanueva and the ascension of co-founder Brian Hofeldt as the band's sole frontman, the music has gotten a little more eclectic, but this return to their Bakersfield roots should delight longtime fans. Whether reviving familiar fare such as "I've Got a Tiger by the Tail" and the pedal-steel weeper "Cryin' Time" or unearthing comparative obscurities such as "Who's Gonna Mow Your Grass," the band from a younger generation than Buck's is more faithful in spirit than concerned with providing a note-for-note recreation. There's as much of a twang in Hofeldt's phrasing as there is in the guitars supporting him. And in the chorus of "Love's Gonna Live Here," you'd swear he's singing "Buck's Gonna Live Here"--and Buck does. --Don McLeese

The Derailers doing a Buck Owens tribute was as likely-- and as welcome--as kd lang doing a Patsy Kline tribute. The influence of Bakersfield on the Derailers has been evident since their first album in the mid-nineties.
"Under the Influence of Buck" is comprised of twelve Buck Owens originals and, to round out the baker's dozen, "Johnny B. Goode," a tune that Owens frequently covered.
The Derailers take no liberties with Owens' music and they offer nothing new in the ... Read More

A great likeness to their hero. If I didn't know it wasn't Buck, I might have been fooled.

It's ok, but nothing near the original recordings. Buy the three CD Box Set of the "Buck Owens Collection 1959-1990." That's got enough Buck to keep you busy for a long time. It's recorded better and it's the real deal.

Every track on this recording is a gem. The Derailers stayed true to the Buck Owens and Bucaroos sound. Any Buck Owens fan or anyone who likes good old country music will love this cd.

What a great CD. The Derailers capture the essence of Buck. If you only like "new country", you will not like this CD. If you are partial to Classic Country, this is the CD for you.
