The long-awaited second season of Soul Food has arrived! Picking up where the first season left off, the Joseph sisters--fiery Maxine (Vanessa Williams, formerly of Melrose Place), controlling yet vulnerable Teri (Nicole Ari Parker, Remember the Titans), and the baby of the family, Bird (Malinda Williams, Daddy's Little Girls)--cope with the wake of a car crash that has left Maxine's husband Kenny (Rockmond Dunbar, Prison Break) in the hospital, while Bird's ex-con husband Lem (Darrin Dewitt Henson, Stomp the Yard) blames Teri's boyfriend Damon (Boris Kodjoe, Brown Sugar) for causing the accident. From there, the series settles into its turbulent groove: Kenny finds himself drawn to his secretary at the towing company; Teri fights to be made partner at her law firm; Bird and Lem fight over the significance of visiting a strip club; Maxine gets into local politics; Lem's store burns down and Lem is accused of arson; Teri suffers from worsening panic attacks; and Kenny and Maxine's son Ahmad (Image award-winner Aaron Meeks) wrestles with school, adolescence, and the fallibility of his parents. The recurring theme, of course, is family obligations--what siblings owe to each other, what parents owe to their children (and children to their parents, as Kenny and Lem each struggle to make peace with their flawed forbears), what husbands and wives owe to each other. I searched high and low for the best price for the Soul Food Complete Series and Amazon was my final decision. They had the complete season frome begining to the end in stock and the price was fantastic. I am so happy and satisfied with my purchase. I am a huge fan of Soul Food and I am enjoying recapping on the entire series. I AM IN MY OWN LITTLE HEAVEN!!

Last year I bought season one of this series for my husband's birthday. We have watched all of the episodes from that season except for the last episode. My husband refused to watch it until he received the second season. Alas! I got it for him for his birthday this year 3/31 and he was excited. So, tonight, we have a date to continue watching from where we left off and delve into season two. I can't wait! Like a lot of reviewers, I fell in love with this show during its 2nd season run on Showtime. I actually taped the series but don't really have time to compare what they've cut or edited - I have noticed that musically Kina & Ludicrous were edited out as well as the music featured in their favorite hangout has been edited out so it does look strange to see them "jammin in the club" to some smooth jazz styled "muzak".
