The Barbie Girl device is basically an MP3 player with attitude. First, it offers a range of customizable fashions and accessories, delivering the next generation of fashion doll play. Second, it is a music device with 512 MB of on-board memory (able to hold about 120 MP3 or 240 WMA-file songs). Third, the Barbie Girl device acts as a "key" for girls who have a room on barbiegirls.com. Girls who have this device and who have physically connected them into one another’s computer docking stations can become "best friends" and chat in "secret." It adds a more personal touch to the site experience and an extra layer of safety for parents. The device comes with a secret code, as well, that once entered on the site can allow its user to unlock additional pets, games, hangouts, fashions, and more. The online world of Barbie Girls offers plenty of time killing fun and lets girls earn more B bucks to spend on virtual accessories. There are three games that can be played over and over, each one taking about 5 minutes to complete and rewarding players with 10 B bucks. Dazzling Nails lets you paint and decorate a set of nails (you can even select rings to go on the hand’s fingers), and then allows you to print out the design so you can wear the nails, too. Mix a Music Video lets you choose one of five songs then add in an animated background, icon, and character to create a unique music video. Give Ken a New Look lets you makeover Barbie’s boyfriend so she’ll notice him again. There are plenty of outfits, cars, careers, and more to choose from for his new style.

I purchased this for my little girl who is turning 5 in September. She loves the Barbie stuff, so I know she will enjoy her Barbie MP3 player. I have not given it to her yet, but I did set it up and downloaded the software to the computer. While I was very disappointed that I could not transfer her/our music on I-Tunes to this MP3 player (wished someone could give me a good reason as to why they didn't make it compatible), I found some great Barbie and Disney music on her CDs, transfered them ... I bought this for my 6 year old daughter for Christmas and almost 7 months later, it's still working well and a big hit with her! She tires easily of certain things so I was surprised about that. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that might just get dropped or lost and originally this MP3 was $80+. My daugter loves this toy but it won't work on the computer. But, she just loves the music. She just downloaded Baby, come back to me and say ok from Vannesa's hudgens music. she loves it!

I'm sure my daughter would love this MP3 player if we could only get the CD to load on the computer. Not a surprise though since it seems most of the kid toys that come with a CD never seem to work (ever tried a kid's camera?). Save your money and buy the real thing.

My grandaughter was so excited to get this Barbie Girl, she loves to be able to go online now and fix her girl up and buy things for her little home and pets. It's awesome, and she loves the MP3 player too!
