Product Description:
In the series opening twelve-year-old Ricky arrives at his unsuspecting father's mansion to introduce himself and move in. His mother Evelyn had placed him in military school after she remarried and thought Ricky would be in the way. Edward Stratton III was the epitome of the words "overgrown child" never having taken responsibility for anything in his lifetime. His lifestyle was that of a ten-year-old going as far as having video games and a scale freight train in the livingroom. Needless to say he was surprised to discover that his seven day marriage to Evelyn Bluedhorn had produced a son. After originally sending Ricky back to boarding school Edward changed his mind and brought his son home. Throughout the five years Silver Spoons many changes occurred in the Stratton household. Ricky became a carefree fun loving teenager while Edward became a responsible loving father and husband. Edward courted and married his personal assistant Kate Summers and she provided them both with a loving stable environment. The shows were filled with quality family entertainment while sharing messages about values morals the problems of growing up in the 1980s along with a few very touching moments.System Requirements:Running Time: 536 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES & SEQUELS Rating: NR UPC: 043396180109 Manufacturer No: 18010

Back in 1982, it was perfectly fine to refer to the 12-year-old star of Silver Spoons as Ricky Schroder. It wouldn't be until his young adult years, when he went on to star in such projects as Lonesome Dove, 24, and NYPD Blue that Schroder would try to distance himself from the sitcom that made him a household name and replace Ricky with Rick. But no matter how many plum roles Schroder gets, we will always have fond memories of Ricky--or the Rickster, as he was sometimes called on the show. The first season opens with millionaire man-child Edward Stratton III (Joel Higgins) learning that he is the father of a tween boy. Straight out of military school, little Ricky moves in with his dad and the two fill needs in each other's lives that they didn't realize needed filling. Schroder already had proven his dramatic acting chops in the 1979 theatrical release The Champ, for which he won a Golden Globe. With Silver Spoons--especially during the first couple seasons--he didn't have to do much else than look adorable (And look adorable he does). Playing the wise child to Higgins' somewhat immature (and emotionally stunted) dad, he's a natural whether helping his father land a date, dealing with a school bully, or making sure his father and grandfather come to terms with their complicated relationship. This three-disc box set includes all 22 episodes, which aired on NBC from 1982-1983. The guest list from the first season is impressive. Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) has a recurring role as his friend/foe Derek. And Sharon Stone, Mr. T and Joey--sorry, Joseph--Lawrence all make appearances. Silver Spoons won't go down as a serious contribution to the world of television. But like cotton candy, it's a welcome treat that's fun to indulge in on occasion. --Jae-Ha Kim

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Silver Spoons
I was so excited when I was able to purchase the first season of Silver Spoons. I grew up watching Silver Spoons and couldn't wait until it arrived in the mail. When it finally arrived - I started to watch it right away. I wish I would be able to get more seasons, but can't seem to find them anywhere. I also would love it, if reruns of the show would be on TV. I totally loved this product.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - LOVE IT!
This is one of the BEST TV shows that I grew up on! I can't wait for the next season! Another tv show I will let my children watch... since they just don't make tv shows like this anymore!

Like many reviews, I too enjoyed this show. While watching this show now, it brought back many fond memories of the 80's. In the first few episodes, one can see the Rubik's Cube, mentioning the movie E.T., classic arcade games such as Pac-Man, etc. One can also see a VERY young Jason Bateman who was sooooooo cute on the show and even Gary Coleman from Diff'rent Strokes makes an appearance on "The Great Computer Caper" episode. My favorite episode is "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" mainly ... Read More

I got this set for christmas, and it was definitely my favorite gift this year! Silver Spoons was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I was the same age as Ricky when the show first aired, and I remember looking forward to it coming on each week! Back then I never would have imagined I'd get to see it all again, some 25 years later! I put the first disc in, and as soon as the intro started and showed the Silver Spoons logo and the house, it took me right back to being 10 years old again! I didn't ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Blast from the past.....
I bought this dvd set, because it reminded me of when I was a kid and watched it on tv. I just thought Ricky Schroeder was the best and oh so cute!! LOL!!!! Watching them, just brought back a lot of great childhood memories. Of course the show is corny and watching it now versus then, there is a huge difference in how I perceive it. I did enjoy it though. So if you are looking for something that is light hearted and will remind you of some fond 80's memories, don't let this set pass you by!!!!
