The not so smart dish network installer incorrectly did the dish and I don't have local HD channels. Dish would charge me another $180 because I am no longer a new customer. So I decided to by an indoor antenna for my living room TV ( I have a philips MANT950 for the bedroom, which picks up all local HD chanels, both NY and PHILI because I am in the middle ). Using this antenna, we did see a little bit of improvement over our previous solution (a jury rigged spare coax cable). It's not a great deal better but it's a noticeable improvement. I do enjoy that it's a bit more subtle than a cable running across the ceiling, and the multiple mounting solutions are also a plus.

This indoor antenna proved to be the best of four different models which I tried. I live in central Ohio, less than one mile from the local NBC affiliate. My Toshiba Regza HDTV could not pick up a good signal using my old rabbit ears antenna, so I bought a GE 24775 Quantum amplified antenna. The local PBS station came in so poorly, that I returned it for a Phillips Mant 510 amplified model. Purchased on a lark to go with a new HDTV. Was pleasantly surprized - receive over a dozen channels - all crystal clear - with 8 of them being HD channels. I am located in the Atlanta area, 2 miles outside the perimeter beltway, and the antenna is placed near a window - all keys to good reception. If you live close to transmission stations and you want something inexpensive and amazingly easy to set up - this should work nicely for you.

When it works, it works better than the amplified Terk antenna that I originally bought. Actually picked up more channels than the Trek.
When it flakes, it flakes hard. It's goes to 60% on ,40% off for no apparent reason...clouds?...passing traffic?...who knows. This can often last for 30 minutes at a time.
