Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A flying double feature -- two films in one
Only hardcore James Cagney fans are likely to be attracted to the quirky plot of this 1942 film, with its romantic triangle between Cagney, Dennis Morgan, and Brenda Marshall. It endures, however, as an aviation film, one of the first in technicolor. The flying and camerawork were directed by the legendary Paul Mantz.

As a flying movie, it's a double feature. In the first half of the film, there are breathtakingly beautiful scenes of Canadian bush flying. The stars are the Noorduyn ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Captains of the Clouds
I am very pleased with the excellent quality of the photography in this DVD - the colours are spectacular and definition is amazingly high.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Cagney and Technicolor
Cagney's 1st Technicolor film. Wow! The vivid scenes of Canada's beautiful and rugged areas plus the aerial scenes with the planes were simply outstanding. Director Michael Curtiz consistently put out very entertaining films (e.g; Robin Hood, Casablanca, etc.) and deserves more recognition for his work. I have read negative comments about the plot. I personally enjoyed it. Watching Cagney is so fun and invigorating. And I love watching Alan Hale. He is one of my all time favorite character actors. Anyway, ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great footage of old planes
Nice story. Patriotic theme. I was interested in seeing the footage of the old planes. The film identifies the Lockheed Hudson and the Harvard Trainer. I think there might have been a few Avro Anson's and maybe even a BP Defiant as well. Anyone with REAL expertise that can get this movie maybe can tell. Anyway, a worthwhile flick for old movie buffs. Especially those interested in WWII era aviation.
