Amazon.com:
Special effects legend Stan Winston's directorial debut, Pumpkinhead (1989), enjoyed a respectable cult following on video thanks to its impressive title monster and the lead performance of character actor Lance Henriksen, and this sequel (the third in the franchise to date), aims to evoke the original with several nods to that film as well as some good old-fashioned gore. Henriksen himself returns in a cameo as the spirit of his character from the first movie, who appears to warn the people of a rural Southern village against evoking the demon Pumpkinhead; unfortunately, it appears that the town doctor (Doug Bradley, better known as Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies) has been desecrating the bodies of the recently deceased, and the locals feel that they have no other choice but to summon the spindly-legged, reptile-faced monster to get their revenge. Director Jake West is mindful of the first film's somewhat elaborate rules (among others, those that helped bring Pumpkinhead back to life suffer with each fresh kill), and he eschews the campy tone of the ghastly 1994 sequel Pumpkinhead: Blood Wings. But a low budget, a hit-or-miss cast, and some shoddy CGI effects which occasionally push the film into "so-bad-it's-good" territory hamper him throughout the picture. Still, for fans of the original, this is a entirely watchable return to Pumpkinhead country. -- Paul Gaita

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Embarrassing!
Obviously Lance Henriksen did it for the money; he hardly appears at all in this second pathetic sequel to a genuinely frightening original. The special effects are so bad in this movie there is actually a scene in which a pumpkinhead doll is sitting in a church window, completely unmoving--this supposedly representing a satanically vicious monster capable of killing anything in its path. Frankly, my brother and I made home movies with 'special effects' like that when we were 12! The only saving ... Read More

I loved the original "Pumpkinhead". A first rate B-horror movie. The acting wasn't bad, the story was interesting, spooky and didn't deal with excessive gore. I was hoping this one would be more in the vein of the original than the first sequel. I was wrong.

This film features every horror cliche' in the book sans sex: maggoty corpses, gratuitous gore, bad dialogue, bad acting, etc. Completely UN-scary. Didn't these filmmakers bother to watch the original and ask themselves why it attracted ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Worst of the movies.
This movie sucked! I loved the first, the second was good, the fourth was very good, but this third one sucked! It was so boring, and so confusing. I almost fell asleep watching this, no kidding. If you have to, rent this movie, but I'm warning you, I will probably suck!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - 2 and a Half Stars
This is a dull entry in a dull series. I thought the first Pumpkinhead was a masterpiece, the second I thought sucked quite frankly, and this pushes the still going series back to respectable. Here the Puritan aspect is played up in the sets and costumes, combining fantasy with real life to create like a celestial feeling. I would recommend this to see once or twice, but it doesn't come close to the masterpiece the first Pumpkinhead was. Though it is a lot better than the awful Pumpkinhead II Blood Wings. ... Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Let's lay ole pumpkinhead to rest for good.
The second Pumpkinhead was a shocker (and not in a good way), this one however wasn't too bad. As the second one had nothing to do with the first Pumpkinhead, this one was a follow on, although set some 10 years or so later. Because it was similar to the first I didn't mind it and will probably watch it again in the not too distant future.
