Aided by Trucks, along with the 1945 American League MVP Hal Newhouser and Hank Greenberg, the Tigers won in seven games.1968: The Tigers 1968 season was dominated by pitching, and the World Series showcased three of the best 30-game winner Denny McClain faced the Cardinals Bob Gibson in Game 1 as Gibson struck out a record seventeen Tigers. From there, Mickey Lolich took control with three complete-game wins. 1984: Coach Sparky Anderson led the Tigers to a record-setting start of the 1984 season culminating with104 regular season wins, a sweep of the ALCS, and a World Series win. Jack Morris, Alan Trammell, and Kirk Gibson set the pace as the Tigers became only the third MLB club to go wire-to-wire.

It's never a good thing when you put a DVD into the player and the first thing that pops up on the TV screen is a disclaimer that states that all audio and video glitches contained herein were present on the master tapes from which the presentation was transferred. Specifically, in this case, the disclaimer refers to the 1984 World Series highlights, which have been available on VHS for years sans glitches (at least the copy in my garage isn't this beat up). As a lifelong tigers fan, i sat down to play this dvd with high hopes. i had the 1968 and 1984 highlight films on vhs, ordered from MLB several years ago. Somehow, they flubbed on the transfer. At several points during the films, the audio drops out and the video jumps -- who watched this in the editing room and approved the final print? It is very disconcerting to watch this. If you are a Tiger fan, you'll likely suffer this to watch your heroes win again, but wince during the key moments that are ... Read More
