LAST OF THE MOHICANS (1920) – Wallace Beery (The Champ) stars in this silent telling of the James Fennimore Cooper frontier classic in which future horror giants Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi can be glimpsed – as Indians! 74 mins.
THE ADVENTURES OF TARZAN (1921) – The cinema’s first Tarzan, Elmo Lincoln, stars in one of those rare sequels that are actually superior to the original. Tarzan battles lions, volcanoes, and Bolsheviks (oh my)! 47 mins.

THE PRISONER OF ZENDA (1922) – The DVD premiere of this silent swashbuckling version of the classic tale, starring Lewis Stone (Grand Hotel) in the dual role of king and commoner, and Ramon Navarro (Ben-Hur) as the villainous Rupert of Hentzau. 94 mins.

EAST OF BORNEO (1931) – Rose Hobart (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde) is a dutiful wife who braves the steaming jungles of Borneo in search of her good-for-nothing husband, only to battle crocodiles, volcanoes, and a rather lustful tribal prince. 75 mins.
THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME (1932) – Joel McCrea (Sullivan’s Travels) and Fay Wray (King Kong) are on the run from a ruthless hunter (Leslie Banks from The Man Who Knew Too Much) in this classic thriller (shot on the jungle set of the aforementioned – but not-yet-released - Kong). 65 mins.
MR. ROBINSON CRUSOE (1932) – A rare Douglas Fairbanks talkie (with very little dialogue) in which he plays a yachtsman who, on a bet, strands himself on a South Seas island, where he must battle angry natives. Maria Alba (The Return of Chandu) plays Saturday, his pretty girl Friday (?). 70 mins.

SON OF MONTE CRISTO (1940) – One of the greatest swashbuckling sagas ever filmed, with a stellar cast that includes Louis Hayward and Joan Bennett (who had both just appeared in The Man in the Iron Mask). George Sanders (All About Eve) plays Hayward’s rival for Bennett’s hand. 102 mins.
THE JUNGLE BOOK (1942) – The original – and in many ways superior – Technicolor version of Kipling’s beloved jungle classic, with young Indian actor Sabu as Mowgli, the wild boy who must contend with tigers, snakes, and greedy white men as he seeks the Treasure of the Lost City. 108 mins.

THE SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO (1952) – Hemingway’s rugged adventure about a writer (Gregory Peck) who becomes delirious as he lies wounded in the African jungle, alternating between visions of his lost love (Ava Gardner) and his very real - but neglected - wife (Susan Hayward). 117 mins.
BENEATH THE 12-MILE REEF (1953) – Father-and-son sponge fisherman (Gilbert Roland from The Bad and the Beautiful and Robert Wagner from Titanic) vie for the affections of lovely Terry Moore (Mighty Joe Young) while plying their trade in and around a deadly coral reef. 100 mins.
