Editorial Review:
Product Description: In terms of scale and aesthetic, the Gen 1 Soundwave blends pretty well with the Transformers Classics line. Gen 1 Soundwave stands almost the same height as Classics Megatron. The Soundblaster touch with the double-deep tape deck is a very cool added feature---just as is the presence of both Ravage and Laserbeak. Overtly servile, emotionless, Soundwave is logic-driven. He monitors and records everything, even to the extent that he interprets brain waves, which makes him unpopular among his Decepticon cohorts. Since Soundwave remains in spy mode 100% of the time, his only real friends are his cassette warriors. Ravage is one of the more memorable cassette warriors, a sleek and cunning predator armed with hip-mounted rockets. Laserbeak marks malignant efficiency, his original profile citing his overall cowardly, scavenging method of reconnaissance.

Soundwave is one of the reasons that the Transformers are the franchise that they are. I had one of these originals when I was a kid and I wanted another one, so I wanted another.
I took it out of the box, and upon the first transformation, I was giddy like a child. This toy looks great and is fun. If nothing else, you can take him, set him up in your cubical to protect your linux computer. =)
I love it, but I warn you, for most people he is not worth the price. For ... Read More

This was the first Transformers toy I purchased for myself after seeing the film come out in 2007. I was feeling nostalgic, since I loved Soundwave as a child, so I thought I'd pick it up for display purposes. I've since purchased several more reissues and other Transformer figures, but this one still stands out as one of the best. This version of Soundwave is oddly a repaint of a tweaked Soundwave repaint figure (known as Sound Blaster, this figure had the ability to hold two cassettes instead ... Read More

Why is a robot turning into a tape deck and animals into tapes so much fun? I mean cars and jets I can understand but a tape recorder?? The real fun of this edition of Soundwave is his nostalgia value. He's virtually the same figure as the old one from my childhood. He stands proudly on the shelf amidst my other favorite figures.
What's good:
He's virtually the same figure as the original which is really cool for us gown-up kids.
His weapons become batteries which fit into ... Read More

This is a reissue I can't refuse. It is a repaint of Soundblaster (so he can hold two tapes instead of one). The batteries turn into weapons (although the gun can't shoot). He comes with Ravage and Laserbeak. If you put Ravage through a red glass item, he has the weak spots to Fortress Maximus (what the orignial Soundblaster had on Buzzsaw). He is a very nice figure and was my first Soundwave. Overall rating 10-10.

I originally purchased the original transformer cartoon series a couple of years ago, as they were cartoons I enjoyed as a child. My son found them and started watching them with the same enthusiasm I did, and so I knew he would enjoy Soundwave as much as I did when I was younger. He was always one of my favorites, and is now one of his. He is only 4 years old, and the gen1 transformers are 100% easier for him to transform by hisself, whereas me and his mom battle with the current versions.... I'll ... Read More
