i have watched and turned off a lot of network t.v. iam 58 and do not waste my time with useless shows. this is one fine dramatic series with a cast of characters that you defintly become with and care about. the writers are top not the fast paced directing fits the shows characters and helps build the ssuspence.then come the actors bringing it all to life and making the people(especially with flashbacks) believeable. their is no black and white answers to the problems they face-just like in real ... If you aren't already hooked on this series, buy season 1 and start watching. You will be hooked after a couple of episodes. When I got to the last episode of Season 6, I stopped and watched several episodes a second time just to make it last. It is that good!

A couple of years ago, before my son graduated from college, he made a parody skit of The Shield to present to a committee at school for a job he was up for. He showed it to me and I busted a gut...I had no clue what The Shield was but it got me interested enough to watch. I rented the first couple of seasons from Netflix and downloaded the rest from Amazon Unbox. Loved it.
