Zoinks! Concerned that his frightfully popular resort might truly be haunted, Spooky Island owner Emile Mondavarious (ROWAN ATKINSON) tries to reunite those notoriously meddling detectives to solve the mystery before his supernatural secret scares away the college crowds. Scooby and the gang will have to overcome their personal differences and forget everything they think they know about fake ghouls and phony creatures to crack the case, save themselves and possibly...the world! Equal parts remake and spoof, this tongue-in-cheek live-action resurrection finds the old Saturday-morning-cartoon gang reunited to investigate the zombie teens of a haunted amusement park. Frantic action and big-screen special effects stand in for logic, but for a while it makes for a spirited send-up. Freddie Prinze Jr., under a blond hairdo and an ascot, turns Fred into a preening pretty boy, and Sarah Michelle Gellar plays with her own Buffy image as eternal damsel-in-distress Daphne (in magenta mini-dress and maxi-boots, no less), but this show belongs to gangly Matthew Lillard, who is the adenoidal beatnik Shaggy. His loyal-to-the-end friendship with the computer-animated Scooby-Doo is the most convincing relationship in the whole two-dimensional goof. Some of the supernatural nasties may be scary for young kids and the humor careens from winking self-awareness to Scooby doo-doo gags, but otherwise this is as harmless as a Saturday-morning chapter and as substantial as a Scooby snack. --Sean Axmaker

I bought the Blu-Ray version because it was a reasonable price and I already had a full-screen copy of the DVD that drove me nuts to watch on a widescreen TV. This pretty much says I already enjoyed the flick. It's mindless and fun, and that's what makes it entertaining.
There is definitely better picture quality with the Blu-Ray version when compared to the standard DVD. There is far more pixelating in the standard DVD that is non-existent in the Blu-Ray version. But, the Blu-Ray ... Read More

Come on people,you're tearing this movie to pices!It's really good!Lots of people say that Sara Michele Gellar shouldn't play Dafnie,but I think she should!I'm 9 now and I saw this movie when I was 3.I was petrafied,butit is still an awsome movie!I think it's better than the second.Acutally,I just ordered a scooby doo double feature with scooby doo on one side of the disk and scooby doo 2 on the other.

I really think they could have done much better computer graphics with Scooby. The rest of the main cast do a pretty good job. Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardinelli are so believable it is a bit scarry. Sarah Michelle Geller and Freddie Prince Jr. do a fair job but this is not some of their better work.
I know I know it is a recreation of a cartoon but I expected a lot better. I think there is a story here that would be a good movie but I think they either did not have the budget they needed ... Read More

I've been going through the list of 562 Blu-Ray titles offered on Amazon, and have to say I'm disappointed. So many heavy-hitters have not been released, and so much junk has. Sadly this film falls into the latter category.
Scooby-Doo had alot of potential--the CGI Scooby was done pretty well, the rest of the gang was fairly well-cast, and the actor who played Shaggy was all but perfect for the role. But the plot is terrible--I bought the DVD, watched it once, and have never wanted to watch ... Read More
