Amazon.com: This wild, operatic 1986 sequel to 1974's low-budget horror hit--The Texas Chainsaw Massacre--is an extraordinary film that demonstrates just how far filmmaker Tobe Hooper had grown in the interim between the two movies. (Between the two movies, Hooper directed, among other things, the Spielberg production Poltergeist, the critically admired Lifeforce, and the spooky remake of Invaders from Mars.) In Massacre 2, Hooper enlists Dennis Hopper as a Texas Ranger seeking vengeance against the flesh-eating family that was introduced in the first film. Meanwhile, a radio deejay (Caroline Williams) is kidnapped by the family and brought to their underground lair. The performances are crazed, terrifying, and comic; the chainsaw fights are practically epic; the lighting and camera work are artful; the emotions are strong; and the ending is astounding, unparalleled in its imagery and force. --Tom Keogh

Okay, i know some people view this movie as "dumb" or a "disgrace" but come on! get a sense of humor! I love this, its artwork to me! it is disturbing, scary, gross, cheesy(in a good way), dark, gory, cannibalistic, and its a hilarious masterpiece with awesome actors (Go Bill Moseley!)and a great director. my favorite characters are stretch(artistically inventive screams), Chop-top(#1),Leatherface(ofcorse), and the cook(the saw is family!),and i also like lefty. all i can say beyond this is that ... The Sawyer family, led by patriarch Drayton, is well-named, since they've long been fascinated with chainsaws: "The saw is family" Drayton says. As a small businessman, Drayton feels oppressed by high taxes and cut-throat competition, so he and his sons, Choptop and Leatherface (affectionately known as "Bubba"), put their chainsaws to effective use procuring cheap, high-quality meat for their barbecue business: "The Rolling Grill." The Sawyers have strong family values -- Grandpa and Grandma are held ... Read More

After helming two motion pictures ("Lifeforce" and "Invaders from Mars") for Cannon, Tobe Hooper was permitted to complete his three-movie contract by directing a sequel to his iconic horror film. Eager to defy expectations, dissatisfied with the general public's inability to perceive the pitch-black deadpan humor of the first movie and unwilling to churn out what might amount to an updated retread of the cannibalistic classic, Hooper opted to make "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" as a satire that spoofed ... I FIRST SAW THIS MOVIE AS A KID. I WAS ABOUT 11 YEARS OLD, ME AND ONE OF MY FRIENDS RENTED AND WATCHED THIS MOVIE ALONE. I HAVE TO SAY THIS MOVIE SCARED THE SH** OUT OF ME FOR A VERY LONG TIME. IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST HORROR MOVIES I SAW TO HAVE THIS EFFECT ON ME I CAN REMEMBER. I RECENTLY SAW THIS MOVIE AGAIN (FOR THE HUNDRETH TIME) AS AN ADULT, NOW I CAN SEE THIS MOVIE FOR WHAT IT TRUELY IS, A VERY GOOD HORROR/COMEDY FILM. THIS MIGHT NOT BE EXACTLY WHAT TOBE HOOPER WANTED FROM THIS FILM BEFORE ... Read More
