Like the review below for example. This album is the start of the "Big Bounce Theory". There's more to the sound scape of this genre called Hip-Hop/Rap than the usual diatribe often heard on main stream radio. Jneiro Jarel's alter ego is among the leaders of that soundscape (With Panacea being another). Indeed, this is the future of hip hop. It breaches the normal boundaries that have suffocated what is considered Rap music. Nothing about these beats are normal and if anything else, it crosses over ... Read More

A few months back I admitted to not really being a believer in Jneiro Jarel. This despite the fact that a gang of people whose opinions I respect co-sign for him. I made the argument that he was an incredible producer and a sub-par lyricist. On his solo album that came out earlier this year, the latter drug down the former with horrendous results. In fact calling this hip-hop is a misnomer. Rather this is mostly unimaginative downtempo electronica with the very occasional vocal track. The most intelligent thing actually said is "I've been making beats since 1992". Well if that's the case Dr. Who Dat is one mediocre guy. If you haven't heard of Jneiro Jarel (Dr. Who Dat?) you've now somehow stumbled onto a world of soulful/Jazzy new school of hip-hop.
I was very impressed with previous release "Three Piece puaazle" mostly because it wasn't as predictable as i thought it might be, quite the opposite jneiro's composition of those songs and few instrumentals kinda opened layers of sound i didnt know existed. It was a psychedelic (at times experimental) journey into hip-hop that kept me intrigued and relaxed.
